Do you want an opt out?

For example: 8 players opted out for the Patriots this year. Does Belichick just cut them for next year or maybe trade them?

Florida has 4 wide receivers opt out for the Cotton Bowl. If you were a General Manager would you even draft them?

How would you feel about them as a teammate?

They are going to NFL to make millions

If they are a high draft pick then they are stupid to play in this game

Most the teammates don’t care either. It gives the younger ones playing time and get some experience for next year.

There were even schools that opted out of the bowl games. I felt that was because of the money that the school would lose by going?

Like Nick Bosa whose team is going to be in the playoffs but opts out because of possibly getting hurt and blowing his NFL draft.

Bowls different story, but those that skipped the whole year are getting one mark against them.

It won't make a bit of difference; a team isn't going to pass on a great player just because they opted out.

That is going to be hard to live down. If I was a owner or GM, I'd put a big red X through his name. Not a character guy.

i doubt any team will not draft the oregon stud left tackle because he opted out this season, i can only hope the bengals deciding to win games late doesn't take them out of the picture, of course with one of the worst owners in sports who knows

I'm not giving big guaranteed money to a guy who doesn't want to play they might just make a quick buck in NFL and quit on you too effort wise or retirement.

I think opting out for COVID concerns was an excuse for taking a year off without consequence for NFL players. Take a break for a year and still get paid handsomely.

Here’s my question, let’s say with the 4 Florida WRs...if ur the 3rd on depth. You opt out. You go undrafted or maybe a 8th round late garbage pick. Is it worth it? Maybe play and drop 180 with 2 tds bumps you up 100 spots in the draft?

I can’t imagine teammates really care. They prob are just proud they bros made it. Entourage baby!

All that matters in the NFL is what you do in the combines. If you show well, you move up. If not, you move down. There are lots of guys that have been passed on because of character that turned into Pro Bowlers. There are lot of guys that got drafted because of their character that got released because it did not mean squat.

Teams do not have these emotional ideas. They are running a business to make money.

Opting out of playing for books, tuition, and room and board for real money will always happen. Nothing to see here. Bowl games other than the playoffs should have been cancelled this year. There was no need for bowl games this year and the CFB made sure of that by screwing over teams like Cinncy, Coastal, LIberty and BYU. Teams who played long seasons undefeated or with one loss ended up in crappy bowls. I haven't watched much bowl action this year, the most I watched was CC/Liberty, and it was a pretty good game. The rest have no juice.

For Trask of Florida last night / 17 players out for Florida for one reason or another but most notably the first 4 wide receivers. That did not work at all for him and his coach just took him out after the 1st possession of the second half.

I know some were covid related but his greedy opt out teammates might have cost him a few spots in the draft order.

There is zero chance that Trask will go lower because of bowl game opt outs unless it was his OL and he got his knee cratered.

His teammates do not owe him a future anyway.

If you don't like this stuff, stop watching it. That will solve the problem.

The 4 team playoff bullshit created this. Why should anyone care about any bowl game except 4 teams? CFP is so dumb, they killed their bowls. The only solution is to expand the playoffs. That's the only way for the athletes and the fans to care.

The NFL owners do not care because the NFL owners will keep 95% of it's players on their team for the first contract only. That is there way of making more money. Why pay some guy a lot more money for his second contract when you can get one who is probably just as good for a rookie contract. With more and more Black players entering the league, less and less money is going to be made by the owners because unless you have a championship caliber team, the fans are not going to give a crap about your team. Black players are not necessarily liked by the people who pay the big bucks to see the games. With the advent of programs like the RedZone, TV contracts are going to go down because people will opt to see the highlights instead of watching the entire boring game.
