I still enjoy going to Atlantic City, me and my friends have had many great trips there over the years. Lots of big wins and always free rooms and great meals. Shame that the PA casinos destroyed them so badly. Too many casinos now so it's not even special for those to travel to the shore anymore. I'd go at least 5-6 times a year for either the Borgata tournaments, WSOP Circuit or just for birthday trips. I'd also stop there for a night or two when we head to Wildwood or Cape May.

Its all about the bread. You cant get the bread anywhere else. O ly 2 bakerys make. It.

Seen a post about the Taj Mahal in the Rounders thread. Lost interest in AC shortly after the Wild Wild West opened than when Borgata was built. After that just made trips to Vegas. Loved AC in the 1990s though.

What a great feeling it was going down that escalator at the Taj with the huge chandeliers with a wallet full of cash. As was the rush driving in from the expressway winding down the window to pay the final toll booth smelling that stinky ass Bay air knowing that soon you would be getting your gamble on. Loved that place. Always seemed to do well at the Taj and the tiny Claridge nearby donating to the homeless Veteran in the wheelchair with his legs tucked under along the way. Hey it was good-luck. My bankroll always got raped at the Showboat and Trump Plaza though. Learned my lesson the hard way there playing roulette using the Martingale system as a young dumb gambler. What a kick in the balls that was.

Now it was time to get yelled at by the Indian gas station attendant for pumping your own gas. I am sure this happened to others not knowing it was against the law to pump your own gas there. Cheapest gas prices in the Country too. "Relax chief, I got it." Thinking your doing him a favor and him tweaking out.

Than came the drive home. There was also no worse feeling than driving the AC expressway home broke with all those penetrating diseased looking deer everywhere that you thought were going to run in front of your car in the early morning hours to make your night a total penetrating disaster. Add in speed traps EVERYWHERE.

The Taj was the Gem of the Boardwalk District Casino's.....Top poker room on the East Coast prior to Borgata opening. Massive stud games there before the Moneymaker boom and no-limit. The snack bar on the 4th floor/poker room elevator was great. A few times had to take the Pike home cause didnt have change for tolls on the Expressway.

Doc's Oyster House on Atlantic Ave was a fav of mine.....had oysters flown in from British Columbia. Salty fuckks...good price.

It's really horrible how the gaming business has been down there since 1980 and the quality of life for city residents has not gotten any better....The Harbor side of AC is the only thing thriving.. Borgata/Harrahs/Nugget

Not what we are ysed to. . There are other pzrts of the city you all never seen .. down towards ventnor city ..nice big beauitful houses. Awesome beaches .the city needs a major over haul. I woukdnt be surprised if a few shut there doors. Tropicana is doing great on the boardwalk And the marina district kicks ass
Next time in town try angelos fairmount tavern. Local place but old school. Atlantic city

I would sometimes take the nj transit train from Philly to Atlantic City then walk from the rail station to either Tropicana or the Taj. After playing poker until the games died down, walking back to get the 4:15am or 5:45am return was always a bit dicey. I never encountered any trouble, but no way in hell would I do it these days on account of all the societal deterioration.
