Bettor Misses Out on $1M Prize After Postgame Stat Correction

Bettor Misses Out on $1M Prize After Postgame Stat Correction on Bears Sack

    JOSEPH ZUCKER

    Ashley Landis/Associated Press
Nick Foles had a pretty bad night in Monday's 24-10 defeat to the Los Angeles Rams. At least he still got to collect his game check.
A big payday wasn't in the cards for one DraftKings bettor, however. Rob Huntze appeared to have won a cool $1 million prize in a daily fantasy competition before statisticians took one sack away from the Chicago Bears, which dropped Huntze's payout to $3,078.94 (h/t the Action Network):

"Heartbreaking on many levels," Huntze told ESPN's David Purdum.
This is now poised to be the most contested sack since the one Michael Strahan registered on Brett Favre to set the single-season record in 2001.

Historically that is a sack almost always? Might be some kind of collusion.

When slow it down I think the defender behind actually touched his leg pre slide that makes this complete whoreshit.

I think everyone here so far is missing the point, watch the video again and notice that Goff started his slide a split second before the tackler dove at him from behind. The instant Goff started to give himself up, the play became a rushing attempt, eliminating sack possibility.

If a qb scrambles (whether a designed run or running for his life) and goes down behind the line of scrimmage it should always be a sack imo

I saw the same thing. If you pause it at 0:06 you can see Goff sliding and the defensive player not touching Goff at all.

I don't feel bad for him. I lost a 7k parlay on a $5 bet by .5 a point a few weeks back. Fukking tie in that Philly/Cincy game.

If he just cuts right at about the 44 or 43 he runs for a ton.

    I think.

Tough beat for the fantasy guy.

Only true if the QB is tackled. There was no tackle here, whether or not the tackler actually touches him .is irrelevant, Goff gave himself up by starting his slide first.

Doesn't matter if the defensive player touched him or not, anytime a qb gives himself up behind the line of scrimmage due to pressure from a defensive player it's deemed a sack, IF IT'S RULED A PASSING PLAY. Same as if he ran out of bounds, pressure = sack, no pressure = no sack. Read the story, the statistician ruled it a running play based on the time left in the game, wr's were downfield blocking and the Rams were leading. Borderline and aggravating nonetheless.

People are also not realizing that he did not miss out on $1,000,000. 1st place was $1,000,000. But he would have split 1st-5th place because it was a 5 way tie. Idk what the other places paid but my guess is he would have won something like $250,000 or so. Still an insane beat.

I was in 1st in an NBA contest once and only one who had players remaining so I couldn't lose unless it went into double/triple OT and someone stacked players. But nobody was within about 30 points of me.

Dion Waiters goes onto to turn the ball over twice for -2 points and I drop a couple of places costing me tens of thousands. This was many years ago but still was a brutal sports memory for me.

Interesting that he used both defenses in his line up.

Nope, 5 tied after the correction. If play stood he was sole 1st place.

I get pissed when a last minute goal comes off the board in soccer, winning then losing a million is just plain cruel
