Doc Rivers will be the sixers new coach

    Let's see how this goes.

He will do just fine, all the questions have to do with Elton Brand and what he will do with the team. I honestly don't think Simmons or Embiid are a winner. Slow centers aren't the answer in the NBA anymore. PG's who can't shoot aren't either.

That means he stepped down and wasn't fired. Wanted to get one of the open less pressure jobs rather than deal with Championship or bust the next few years against LBJ and AD.

Buried. Do they get much more in terms of results with Doc? I don’t see it. Nobody does less with more. They need to revisit the roster. Elton Brand should be on the hot seat.

Doc Rivers should take a few years off and protest in the streets with BLM and get that out of his system before jumping into another protest before coaching job immediately.. His priorities are skewed right now IMO.. He can't focus..

You never know with media and all but it's my understanding that Ballmer was pissed. He outright fired Rivers and might fire more people.

Dude is ready to clean house.

It doesn’t matter. Simmons still can’t shoot, Embiids conditioning is still shit, and horford is still trash. Changing the coach doesn’t change the team.

Ballmer should have been pissed. But that doesn't mean that Doc didn't want out too after that debacle. That choke job is right up there with Dan Quinn's Super Bowl loss. Nobody recovers from that kind of choking.

coaches in the nba and nfl just just get the fired thing and then they are put back into a bag and shaken and see what crap falls out for the next open job.

    Indeed.

Actually, Doc has choked like that before so if anyone can recover, it's him...

The best part is there is a total bullshit narrative by some in Philadelphia was Brett browns fault when the real problem was that Simmons and embiid are babies who aren’t leaders and both are lazy, the players establish the culture in the nba, not the head coach, look at their salaries.

Good luck winning a title when you are paying 60 million a year to Tobias Harris and Al Horford

Rivers is a good coach but he won't win with the current makeup of the Sixers roster. If I were them I'd try to move either Simmons or Embiid and start over. They won't win with those guys because one can't shoot and the other is a Center who is brittle and doesn't try to play inside.

Steve Ballmer, former Microsoft CEO and the owner of the LA Clippers fired Doc Rivers partly because of Micheal Porter Jr.

The meltdown of the Clippers against the Nuggets was not well received by Steve Ballmer. Ryen Russilo and Bill Simmons both heard Ballmer went ballistic after the Clippers blew the lead, and wanted to fire all coaches and players alike.

He had a very highly paid coaching staff, a star-studded roster, and a highly paid analytics team. Doc Rivers and his team did not listen to the analytics team repeatedly telling them to play Zubac over Harrell, which could have been a key difference-maker in the series.

Back in 2018, the Clippers had the #12 and #13 pick in the draft. They ended up drafting Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Jerome Robinson. They traded both of them away. Back then, Steve Ballmer had asked the Front Office to draft Micheal Porter Jr. The Front Office were of the opinion that MPJ was ‘undraftable’.

The Denver Nuggets drafted MPJ and we saw how that turned out. Porter Jr is a young star on the rise, and that just further aggravates Ballmer. Ballmer was familiar with MPJ, both being from Seattle.

If you are that adamant about taking a player as an owner then meddle in YOUR business. Although hindsight is ALWAYS 20/20. All Ballmer had to do was tell HIS people to draft MPJ.

I was wrong about one thing though and that is Doc Rivers is not a good coach. To be fair though it didn't matter who coached this Sixers team they can't win with Embiid and Simmons on the roster.

You think Doc delivers in Game 7?

He does have a Majerus connection. Coached Doc on the Marquette team. Majerus actually gave Rivers the "Doc" nickname when he saw a young Rivers wearing a "Doctor J" jersey at a hoops camp.

Well Philly won two games in Boston. They should be right there at the end.
