12 games left in MLB season - 16 teams get to the playoffs - 12 teams have for intents and purposes clinched a post season spot - 8 teams are alive for the final 4 spots.

Personally I think this 16 team playoff format sucks.
Totally waters down the post season if you ask me.
Manfred (the worst commissioner in all of sports) won't admit it but he's doing it for nothing more than a money grab.
And his rules changes are nothing more than gimmicks also.

Anyway here's the six teams left in contention for the final four spots.
The most interesting thing is all six play in the NL.
Proving what we thought all along, the top seven out of ten teams in the Central (Twins, Cubs, A's, White Sox, Indians, etc. etc.) would all beat up on the three worst teams (at the start of the season) Pirates, Royals, and Tigers.
Nobody expected the Nationals to be a bottom three team.

The Marlins have a 75 percent chance of getting in.
I can't explain it, the Marlins have only four regular batters that have enough at bats to qualify for any awards, and only one starter. And those four hitters and one pitcher have been just ordinary.
Only explanation I have is the Marlins took care of business against teams like the Red Sox, and Orioles....
All they have to lock up a spot is pretty much go 5 and 8 in their last 13 games.

I spent the last half hour analyze the Marlins, they started the season 7 and 1 and out of those first eight games manager Don Mattingly (your manager of the year if you ask me) used 8 different starters. Thar'a pretty unusual.

One more point, I always say pitching wins and looking at the top heavy teams in the standings most of them have stellar pitching.

Anyway, here's the list of contenders.

Thanks, my brain almost exploded trying to figure out the Marlins, everything else makes sense.
Reds starters Castillo and Bauer both have been lights out, that's why they can make it.
Indians pitching too have been solid.
    Pitching usually wins .
