Churchill Downs Hikes Price For Data, Nevada Not Having It

Looks like they may book their own event for this one...

    https://www.espn.com/chalk/story/_/i...utuel-wagering

Nevada bookmakers are locked in a dispute with Churchill Downs that, barring a last-minute resolution, will prevent the state's sportsbooks from offering pari-mutuel wagering on the Kentucky Derby...
Churchill Downs hiked the price for track data...

...Prior to the dispute, which began several months ago, Churchill Downs was charging Nevada sportsbooks roughly 4.5% of every wager placed on races held during its spring meet. According to sources familiar with the negotiations, Churchill Downs is now asking for around 5.5% of the money wagered at Nevada books and around 10.25% during Derby weekend...
    Nevada books not having it...

...On Aug. 28, the Nevada Gaming Control Board granted "industry-wide approval to determine the winners of or payout on wagers" on the Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby...

Nevada hasn't taken Churchill Downs for several months now; can't believe it's going to extend to Derby day. Won't matter to the books though, they'll book and most likely win.

When it comes to horse racing I think the books should pay a fee, but it should go to a nationwide industry body to develop and support the grass roots industry first. The big tracks gain from that, and will slowly die without it.

That system in Australia has seen the sport thrive and not cost books/punters too much to handle.

Purse for The Kentucky Derby on Saturday is $3 million. It had been $2 million for a long time. I don't know if Yum brands is still the sponser, but matters not.

It had to be TVG. I have an account at Twinspires and THEY are Churchill.

Plenty of tracks get taken down at different facilities from time to time because of money
