Sports never should have gone political...

It's a no win situation. This stuff about players having power is completely false. They are destroying their own paychecks long term. They are going to regret this.

One thing I learned long ago. Do not mix business and politics. It will become a train wreck.

Agreed. Most people watch sports as somewhat of an escape from their real lives, not to have some narrative shoved in their faces.

It's no wonder the NBA ratings are way down. I'd love to see empty arenas next year and going forward.

I don't know if I want to see empty seats, we need sports to survive this. Think they need to come forward and let people know that they are done with politics and being activists while at work. If they want to do stuff on their own personal time, that's fine, but bringing it on the court or field and cancelling games counter productive.

Middle aged white men do not really watch much NBA. They are NFL fans. They tried not watching NFL. They couldn't do it.

    Simple solution.

Don't go to the games when they have fans again.

    Don't buy any paraphernalia.

I don't watch many games anyways.

That's the problem. Can sports leagues survive with that?

Sports, and the reason communities decided to publicly fund sports and stadiums, etc is because they were historically non political centers of community gatherings.

They were basically adult pep rallies

Now that they have gone political, you will see political retaliation.

In conservative areas I would not be surprised to see public support for public stadium funding cut or eliminated. It will then fall on the bankrupt cities to fund them, and they simply can't.

Sports are political. Politicians want to get votes by supporting their agendas.

This is what I've been saying. Sports should be about giving the fans what they want, not other causes.

Play your penetrating games and stay in your lane.

A bunch of black MILLIONAIRES complaining about how blacks in America don't get a fair shake.

    Give me a break.

I've been to racist countries. And every country has some racist people. But a racist country doesn't elect a black president TWICE, nor does it allow the opportunity for a poor black kid to grow up and become a millionaire.

These athletes have zero perspective. They should have to go play basketball in Somalia for a season to appreciate how great America is.

People voting, for themselves, to pay for stadiums by getting taxed has to correlate with a population that is insane. Funding/Building stadiums for billionaire owners and millionaire athletes. It's all gone mad.

They're already starting to lay the foundation for failure. It's been less than 48 hours since they essentially held the owners for moral ransom and the complaining has ALREADY started. The naivety is frustrating.

COVID taught us how to live life without sports for a 4 month period. You can bet sports without watching a single game. Just give me some stats and I'll figure it out. I'll support my local high school sports. I'll support my local smaller colleges when they come back. I'll spend my money at the minor league games next year. Michael Jordan never tipped his political hand when he played because he knew "Republicans buy shoes" also. These overpaid prima donnas have no concept of the real world, and need a financial reality check.

Blame the media. Blame Disney/ESPN. Blame Twitter.

I honestly think Lebron would like to not be asked his opinion. He gets asked his opinions about the black community every day. They want him to chime in about everything and even though he may not be informed or really give a shit, he gives his opinion. It's probably exhausting.
