They are trying to avoid 16-18 inning games. Stupid idea though. Should have a home run derby if tied after 9

At least this time, with the 4-4 tie, the OVER was coming no matter what.

Even so, 3 runs gets scored in OT.

Those are going to make a difference in some games this year. Starting the innings with a runner in scoring position is just inviting those extra scores.

    Yeah.

It had better be a Cole vs. Verlander or something like that type of match up before I consider betting an under.

Now more than ever when handicapping a game you need to know how good your bullpen is and who is available to pitch out of the pen before thinking about wagering an under.

Believe me, the books will be adjusting all game totals within a day or two.
You are going to see games that once would have a total of 8.5 suddenly being a 9 flat or 9.5

Pay attention people, the books may over adjust game totals to the point where the under could be an option.
Pay attention to game total trends this week and going forward.

This looks like something kids would come up with on the playground. There was a year not too long ago when I went to half the home games of my local MLB team. Now? I haven't been to a game in probably 6-8 years, haven't watched an inning on TV -- and I'm certainly not at home watching this crap now.

Just change the game completely for this season. Start with the bases loaded every inning. Higher scoring games = more entertainment.

This rule sucks. Manfred should be used as a beanball Astros guinea pig

I don’t mind it for the regular season. But it shouldn’t be in effect in the playoffs.
    Don’t think it is anyway.

Played a live scenario in 3 games yesterday and all of them hit. Going to keep an eye out for it the rest of the year.

    Scenario:
    1. Tie game
    2. Live total is 1.5 runs more than the current score (likely somewhere in the 8th inning)

In a tie game, you're guarunteed at least 1 more run barring no rain out. Now with the extra runner in extra innings, the chances of more than 1 run is higher if the game goes to extras. Now there's obvious risk that the game can still end 1-0, but I like my chances if it gets to the 10th. And there's still a chance for over 1.5 to hit in the last 1-1.5 inning of regulation.
Of the 7 extra inning games this year, 5 had had more than 1 run scored in extras.

    The 3 I hit yesterday:

White Sox/Indians 0-0 over 1.5 (did not go to extras)
    Nationals/Blue Jays 0-0 over 1.5 (extras)
    Dodgers/ Astros 1-1 over 3.5 (extras)

    I missed one yesterday...

Another extra inning game last night with the Giants/Padres where the Giants tied it up in the bottom of the 8th at 6-6. Though it was with 2 outs, so I'm not sure if books put out a 13.5 live total.

That's now 6 out of the 8 extra inning games that have had 2+ runs.
