I don’t know what these teams think hitters never win titles and these contracts prove to the epic failures

Dodgers have the best lineup in baseball, it's not even debatable

yankees are better if they all start hitting doubles in the gap and/or line drive singles/doubles again besides the long ball. if they play like years past and depend on the big shot most of the time they are not better than the dodgers.

    sincerely, a frustrated yankees fan

I think he’s overrated. Even if you think he’s great, 13 years way too long for a guy who is 5’10.

MLB is sooooo far behind 21st century strategy. I can`t think of one 10+ year contract that wasn`t an all out albatross the last few years.

I do think Mookie is a great ballplayer and all around good guy. BUT, he is a midget. Trout could snap him in two over his knee.

    Bad contract

When he's 33 and can't bat his weight, it will be very hard to be a Dodgers fan

    Way overrated

    No money for Bellinger now

    Terribly long deal

Owners are probably pissed as these deals were finished, Harper proving outfielders are worthless

Makes you wonder if the deal was agreed to months ago w a handshake....

Dodgers lineup is stacked. They’ll be fighting for a World Series every year for the next decade.

It appears Mookie’s price to sign with the Red Sox was about $60 million higher than what he took with the Dodgers.

Shocked the Dodgers would give him this deal knowing full well there will probably be a harder salary cap or tax after the 2021 season.

If I were baseball owner I wouldn’t sign anyone for 12 years unless they were Babe Ruth and put asses in the seats himself. Betts sure isn’t that guy.

Betts has already lost his power to right field. Hit only one last year off the bottom of the rf foul pole. Will be pitched outside and become the next Andrew McCutchen. Plus he is only getting 365m for 12 years which is 30,416,000 a season. Diminutive player size wise does have some flair but makes 27m this year so it is only a 3m raise. The last six years of this contract should be what worries the dodgers.

I’d much rather have him at that price than Harper who can’t hit for average at 25 million a year. Contract looks reasonable.

They'll definitely get 1 sooner than later.

    Lineup too good now.

And they got the player who actually has the clutch gene. That's Mookie. He'll teach some of these others guys a few things who have melted down time and time again.

    He is.
    He's almost Mike Trout good.

Mookie is a bonafide five tool player, hits for average (over .300 for his career so far), hits for power, steals about 20 bases per season, and wins gold gloves in the outfield for defense.

Red Sox didn't want to trade him but Boston's payroll is pretty much maxed and could't afford him.

There could be another five tool superstar like Tout and Betts in Atlanta in Ron Acuna, Jr.
He's only entering his third season however he is off to an amazing start to his career already.
Keep a close eye on Acuna.

    Nasher come on

Last year was a HUGE drop off and since 2016, all but the bizzare '17 scandal ridden season he's been trending down.

In fact, 17 with the sign stealing, etc, seems to be his peaks, the rest of his career you can get those number platooning. Like Wash did w Haper leaving.

    Too much $$

What part of his game is lacking up to this point.

What do you think, he's going to hit .346 with 30 plus bombs every season?

Last season is pretty much was what he is,
That being a .290 - .300 hitter with 25- 30 homer power, a run scoring machine that wins gold gloves in the outfield.

He's not Trout, but Trout is a once in a life time rarity.
