It was. Quebec reopened the province and schools a long time ago. All against the government of Canada recommendations. Obviously the government has power to control this but if Quebec was asked they would say yes in a heartbeat.

Prob comes down to who controls the security In the airports then right? They gonna let Tampa Bay through? They gonna let a busload of Yankees come through? I doubt the Canadian feds just let that happen

I think dozens of jays employees that all get paid from 6 figures to 7 figures exhausted every conceivable angle.

The Toronto Blue Jays are looking at alternative options after the state of Pennsylvania on Wednesday denied a request to play the majority of their 2020 home games at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.

"In recent weeks, we have seen a significant increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in southwestern Pennsylvania," Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine said. "To add travelers to this region for any reason, including for professional sports events, risks residents, visitors and members of both teams.

"We know that this virus does not discriminate, and can even make professional athletes very sick. We are committed to protecting the health and well-being of all Pennsylvanians."

Canada's government denied the Blue Jays' request to play at Rogers Centre in Toronto because the regular-season schedule would require frequent travel from the United States, where COVID-19 cases are surging. The other 29 major league teams plan to play the pandemic-shortened, 60-game season in their home ballparks, without fans.

Toronto begins the season at Tampa Bay on Friday.

They play every game on the road, but they would consider some of those games “home” games. Fans aren’t going to be much of a factor so it would just be travel as and obstacle for the team and a giant asterisk for home road schedule as an obstacle for the bettor.

This is a good move on their part. The players wanted to play in a big league ball park but Sahlen Field is a good AAA stadium. Plus the players can be relatively close to home since it's only a 2 hour drive from Buffalo to Toronto.

Plus, this is the Blue Jays' minor league affiliate FFS so they will have fans there not just because of proximity of cities but the team as well. I think they owe it to their fanbase to play there games there.

The news articles I've seen say they will play "the majority" of their games in Buffalo which means of course they have options for a few games elsewhere.

Toronto Blue Jays fans find unique ways to celebrate MLB return to Buffalo

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the midst of their first homestand of the 2020 season at Sahlen Field, their new home away from home in Buffalo, New York. Jays fans from Buffalo, less than a two-hour drive from Toronto, and around New York showed up to take in the home opener Tuesday from the streets outside the stadium, on nearby rooftops and in local bars.

The Blue Jays are 1-1 so far in Buffalo. They welcome the Tampa Bay Rays to Sahlen Field on Friday for the first of a three-game series.
