Couple weeks back, Biden was a pu$$y for wearing one. Now that Trump is wearing one, he's "winning".
Biden's kid cashed in his dad's name to get a plum job - he's corrupt. Don Jr. steals from a kids charity, he's "an up and comer with ambition".
Biden kisses the head of his grand daughter at a funeral, he's creepy. Trump dry humps his teenage daughter and....well it goes on and on.

It's a losing fight for Trump to try and mock those who wear them. The dude is 74 years old, morbidly obese, wears a ton of makeup and brought in the red hat thing in 2015 because he was worried about how his hair would look campaigning. No one (save a few I guess) wants to wear a mask or thinks they look good, but he really gets off on these "Trump as Rocky" or "Trump as Superman" memes etc. The joys of living in an Elvis or Michael Jackson type bubble.
Maybe he's realizing that the mask thing is politically hurting his numbers. Clinton was accused (accurately) of governing by reading the polls.
Having a weather vane with executive order power and nuke's at the ready is not a great scenario at any time, regardless of whose name is on the door.
