COVID19 no longer the virus that kills many as Doctors have dramatically come a long
way at treating the serious/critical.
In the height of of the Deaths per day of 2,000+ the serious/critical
was around 17,000.
Yesterday the serious/critical was 16,038 with only 251 deaths.
COVID19 is definitely no longer a serious death threat for 98.6%
of the serious/critical in the hospitals being treated.
So as long as the hospitals do not get over run there is not much to worry about.

I still want to see what deaths look like in a few weeks. We're diagnosing earlier so the apparent timescale from infection to death is longer. Probably not going back to 2,000 deaths/day, but I bet we start seeing over 1,000/day later this month. It still isn't "just the flu" and there's still to much we don't know, including the long-term damage on survivors.

This is still serious though. You cannot look at current death rate in context of current cases. Lag time is 3-6 weeks. Current deaths are measuring the trough of cases from early June. Deaths are gonna spike again within 2-3 weeks.

We need to fix our collective responses for future pandemics. I don't even think the China Syndrome qualifies as a pandemic. No one has been able to quantify a number that makes a new illness rise to the level of a pandemic yet.
Also we need to take the virus hype away from the doctors, let them treat the sick and do other things that they are good at. I think we should let the statisticians control the hype of a pandemic. This particular virus hasn't even reach 1% of the world yet and if you listen to the doctors they say wild things about the possibilities that just aren't happening. Really has Fauci been even in the ballpark with his panick porn yet? nope.
