Kyler Murray the next Bo Jackson/Deion Sanders?

Hes thinking of joining the ranks of the duel sports stars...will he do it?

"I don't understand why in sports they try to marginalize it," Murray told the Republic. "They try to make you pick one and I get it, but we'll see. I think it would be fun. Right now, though, I'm just focused on football."
Murray finished his rookie season with the Cardinals with 3,722 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He also rushed for 544 yards and four TDs.

Bo by far the only one to be relevant

Dion had a couple ok seasons in mlb

Is Murray fast enough to be a base stealing specialist? Could see a late season or post season role there but no, he's not a MLB caliber player anymore.

As saw potential in a 18 yr old kid but now hes 23. Too much lost time.

Remember this guy...Brian Jordan had five interceptions in four seasons as an NFL safety and also hit .282 with 184 home runs in pro baseball, earning an All-Star selection in 1999.

If he does , it will be for the commercials. Remember, Baker Mayfield had a pretty good rookie year. He was awful this year. I would not be shocked to see Murray be down in numbers next year too. How long is a 5'9" QB going to last in the NFL? I will be surprised if he has a 5 year NFL career.

This thread seems like it's titleD wrong.

You mean to say that Murray will be like the next Bo because of two sports, right?

You're not actually implying that Murray is the next Bo Jackson? Right???

    RIGHT???

Yes, athletically I think Murray is Little League compared to Bo Jackson.

Brian Jordan is consistently one of the most under-rated two sport athletes when this kind of threads pop up on the forums every year.

Dick Groat probably the most under rated two sport athlete in terms of talent, accomplishments that was actually a pro in two sports

Dave Debusschere brief MLB career but only athlete in a main stream 4 sport Hall of fame that i'm aware of.

Brian Jordan was very relevant. I think he was a pro bowler one year or alternate and he had a top 10 finish in MVP voting one year in MLB

Bo's baseball career was super flashy and filled with high lite reel plays and hype. but if you dig into the numbers he wasn't much more valuable as a baseball player than Deion. He struck out a ton and OPS was just ok. Bo had a few hundred more ab's than deion but only a total of 40 more career base hits. They had similarly short careers.

He was a very raw player with so many highlight moments and the all star lead off Homer that we remember him as better than he was. He had potential that was never realized of course. But since many of us were young during his career he has a lot of middle aged fan boys that idolized him .

Even his part time football stats are surprisingly small compared to what you might think he did. He had so many super explosive long runs that we remember him as godly. And he was great, but he never in came close to avg 100 yards rushing a game.

If only he'd not gotten injured or committed to one sport

    Murray signed with the A's..
Think he went to spring training..
Mill+ I believe but had to return the $ before he signed w/Arizona..
    Should stick to one sport...
He's not that good right now in either...

It is all about the commercials and the marketing. Bo did have some big time athletic moments. But, as stated the long term , the big numbers weren't really there. Of course he got hurt so that career ended abruptly. Look at Baker Mayfield. They are still running all these ridiculous commercials all the time on him. I think they were assuming he would be great ! Interested to see how many of those companies pull the plug on the commercials after the disastrous year he had this year.

It has nothing to do with numbers bo Jackson dominated both sports when
    He played

He was the best running back in the national football league any time he played

    nah.

Barry Sanders, Herschel, Eric Dickerson, Roger Craig, Christian Okoye all had great years during Bo's career, It was a boom in the running era. I think Walter Payton may have had a 1200+ yard rushing year in bo's first year...

Most passing yards on screen passes last year:

    1. Kyler Murray - 575
    2. Aaron Rodgers - 483
    3. Baker Mayfield - 472
    4. Carson Wentz - 469

Jeff Samardzija was better than Bo he was basically a white Terrell Owens. Deion and Bo basically had equal MLB stats and Deion 10x the football player. Rusty LaRue was the only guy who maybe could of played all 3 sports he was a 4 year starter at QB and played basketball and baseball at Wake Forest. He had a short NBA career. I guess Dave Winfield also but that was before my time.
