Houston is approaching ICU capacity while LA is closer to a 'critical moment'

Houston is approaching ICU capacity while LA is closer to a 'critical moment' amid COVID-19 spike as experts warn rural counties in Arkansas and Missouri have seen cases double in a week and US virus cases pass 2.5

    • A staggering 2,507,874 infections have been recorded in America, making up a quarter of the world's almost 10 million cases
    • The US recorded more than 45,000 new infections Saturday, setting a dismal new daily record for confirmed cases since the outbreak started
    • Some Mississippi ICUs are now full of COVID-19 patients
    • Houston ICUs are edging closer to reaching capacity and officials sent an emergency alert to residents bumping up the threat level to 'severe'
    • LA is said to be approaching a 'critical moment' for the pandemic
    • Experts are warning that rural counties could also be hard hit, after small communities in Arkansas and Missouri have seen their cases double in a week

Florida, Texas, Arizona and California could be dealing with the virus for many more months ahead. Then add several months to that into even think about flattening the curve. One is delusional to think this will be over by election day. jmo.

You understand ICU is normally around 87% capacity on a normal day without Covid ? So at max is what , 3% Covid patient , resulting in "severe " level ?
Propaganda machine is working , its like nobody is suppose to be in ICU except Covid patients....Unbelievable

I see you have bought fully into the fear porn. Today will likely be the lowest death total since mid March. But let’s lose our mind over an insignificant uptick in cases in a few states.

If thats a fact on the death totals then thats a good day, however, death totals are a lagging indicator.

Covid and non-covid patients are not mixed in together in ICU units.

Because older people have been more responsible than dumb young folks. But the younger folks are getting sick as shit from this. A friend of mine (26 years old in awesome shape) just spent 23 days in the hospital. This is not the flu that you get over. She has serious respiratory issues now. A great number of people on ventilators here are young.

Do you mean dying when you say “losing”?

Why does it have to be life and death? What if you needed an elective surgery like hernia, kidney transplant or a mastectomy? Well, all elective surgeries have been cancelled for now. 3 months ago the emergency room was EMPTY. I’m talking 1 or 2 people a night. Now? Packed. People waiting hours to be treated. Why? Don’t be a dummy... COVID. Talk to any nurse or doctor in Houston and they will tell you the shit is getting out of hand. This shit ain’t got nothing to do with politics.

Sunday coronavirus positivity: deaths hit a new low, down to 273. Lowest coronavirus deaths since March 25th per linked data, down nearly 10% from last Sunday.

Cases are up, but most cases are in people in their 20’s & 30’s, who have a death rate from the virus of near zero. Biggest question remains how low can deaths go since virus isn’t going away. Deaths, however, are now down over 90% since the peak set on April 21st.

I’m not sure if it’s brainwashed. I think many people are in denial, they don’t want to believe what is happening, so they have to minimize it.

Yes but they have gone down for weeks. I know you think with the spike in cases in a few weeks the deaths will go up. When that doesn't happen what will you say?

Younger people account for most of the new cases. Younger people RARELY die from this. Do the math. Corona is done.

But common sense tells me that if less older people are getting it and we’re getting better at preventing deaths, the numbers should come down. The question is what long term health risks the young infected/recovered will have? Some seem to fully recover with no problems while others have issues.

There is a good chance they wont go up because many of the hospital patients today are under 40 or so and they seem to recover faster and have less fatalities. But only time will tell... What is forgotten here is that many cases are beginning to show in many rural areas of the country where older people tend to live, Missouri is one of those states.

Agree, i just posted pretty much the same comment about deaths coming down possibly over the next few weeks. So how are you? You must still be in recovery mode?

I ask again, why does it have to be life or death? If you believe in herd immunity (which a part of me believes), what then if young folks start dying a year later from another strain? No one really knows, which for me, means you are better off not getting it in the first place.

Yep, I’m skin and bones, lost mostly muscle (50+ lbs). Can barely speak, Vocal chords gone from being incubated during surgeries. Months of rehab ahead. But I’m here. I saw too many people go Code Blue.
