The players have overplayed their hand.

The owners are billionaires..... losing money is just a tax write-off.
Problem is holding out too long and you lose fans. Lose fans, there goes the value of your teams which is more than a tax write off. Some of those teams are probably a large part of their portfolios.

They don't care about fans. It might take a few years, but they always come back.

No matter what offer owners make the MLBPA will file a grievance.

I can't see MLB being played in 2020 without the players actually laying down their swords.

Owners lose big money the more games they play. That's the whole thing. They want less games thats why they have stalled.

Wouldn't it be crazy if all the sudden they had the same views as a whole season simply bc of the thirst for action.....most mid day baseball breezes by the masses.....not anymore....

Sure they might drop some coin but that small picture bs as the equity in their teams continues to rise. Dont think that will be the case if they manage to Fukk things up.

So players want 100% pay for playing only 43% of games? Greedy shits. Why are multimillionaires so fuking greedy, you don't need a second yacht.

The players are not asking for their full contact for the year, they're asking to be paid 100% pro-rata meaning they want their salary divided per game and get paid per game. That's what they agreed to in March. Because of that, naturally the players want to play more games. Owners after realizing the games may happen without fans then wanted the players to take a percentage cut of their pro-rata (i.e. If their pro-rata was $100k/game, they wanted the players to accept $70k/game instead of the $100k). Players have told the owners to shove it, they're not changing the deal that was already agreed to.

That all been worked out, only thing left number of games and players threat to file a grievance cause owners trying to limit amount of games.

Something will happen by end of Wednesday. Either a deal or a mandated season. Whether it gets off the ground is another thing.

    Negotiations are a marathon.

Lets hope for something tangible to emerge by mid week.

Wouldn't be surprised to hear: "Owners and Players Union have agreed to have further negotiations with a possible vote by mid August."
