    Is the NHL commish braindead?

    Rumors are the NHL will resume in July in Toronto and Columbus.

    So if a player gets Covid don't they just shut down again for 2 weeks? These players really all going to agree to isolate away from their family for months?

    Bunch of morons leading this charge. Summer is cancelled in Alberta they announced yesterday but yet NHL hockey resumes in June/July?

    Going in and out of Canada and having to self quarantine for 14 days makes that seem far fetched. I heard Las Vegas and they’d have a whole resort connected to hockey facilities with a nice golf course Perk

    They'd have to require 14 days out for anyone testing positive with no exceptions. You'd see a lot of minor leaguers playing; handicapping would be a nightmare.

    Though there is significant work to be done, the NHL and its players appear to be taking a major step toward hockey’s return Friday evening. The players are expected to agree to a format for a restart, according to a report by TSN in Canada. No formal announcement was made as of Friday evening. But NHLPA team player reps, who voted Friday, were expected to thumbs-up a 24-team playoff format.

    The setup was proposed by the NHL’s return-to-play committee, which includes top league and union executives and several prominent players. The top four teams in each conference would receive byes and warm up with a round-robin tournament, and the lower eight teams per conference have a play-in round for the final four spots. The play-in could be a round-robin, best-of-three, best-of-five or best-of-seven format.

    I think the play in winners have a huge advantage in the first round series under this format
    Personally I think a 6 team round robin with 4 advancing is better, the top 4 in each conference are essentially playing meaningless games
