That would seem to make the most sense prorating their salaries based on how many games are played but the owners aren’t offering that.

Prince fielder will be the highest played payer this season at 24 million guaranteed bc of a clause in his contract

Owners want to reduce pay even more (without even saying the exact amount) due to lost ticket sales from playing in empty stadiums, which Snell disagrees with.
I understand the knee jerk reaction to pointing at the owners and saying they are to blame, but that's not lose sight of the fact a lot of the owners have some empathy of the groundskeepers, concession workers etc. and are paying them.

Not all sports owners are the evil greedy bastards that some make them out to be.
It's rare I take the side of ownership, but in this case I am.

Snell is saying the exact opposite. He is saying he is perfectly fine to live on zero.

Of course, right now the owners are offering less than $3.5 million from Snell's $7 million contract for an 81-game season: https://www.si.com/johnwallstreet/sp...lb-2020-season

Then Snell sitting out this season would be great for everyone: the team owners can take the money he would have been paid and use that to pay all those other workers.

He (and the rest of the players) aren't asking for their full salary. They're asking for what was agreed to back in March, a prorated portion of their salary. Play half the season, get half your pay. The owners are now trying to renege and take a 50/50 split, which amounts to about another 15% less. In essence, half season for 35% pay. In addition they'd be on lockdown when on the road, confined to hotel after games, no family, no friends, etc. Fuk that. None of you would agree to those terms, why should they? Yeah he came across like a douche (like most 20 somethings on social media) but he ain't wrong.

It doesn't work that way. Fans want the team to win. They don't want to see Joe Blow lose all the games their star pitcher would have won.

Explain why when management goes against their agreement they made back months ago to pay players their prorated salary, and now wants to pay even less than that, sbr comes out against the players, saying they should be willing to play for a prorated salary. The trolls coming out of sbr have reached new levels of idiotic logic. Congratulations.

"I think he was being honest, just being real. He made a lot of good points," Arenado told the Athletic's Ken Rosenthal."There are some points he made that were true, that are facts. A lot of it gets misperceived. Trying to get the public to understand us, it’s not going to work very well in our favor."
