Too bad for the CFL. If they had their shit together, they could open up a few weeks late and be one of a few sports working in stadiums with no fans but good ratings on TV. It looks like if they stall until September, there will be no reason to play against the big boys in the NFL and College, with respect to ratings and viewership of course. Not trying to say these guys aren't big dudes but they could have siezed the day.

Too back I'm not gonna see the Regina Rough riders in action. Yeah, I know they are now stakastitoon or whatever, but they will always be the Regina Roughriders to me.

It would only be a hope that they could garner the ratings, even with nothing else on. ESPN still offered them, like Korean baseball..lol...so I have to think it was trending the right way. Perhaps not.

    https://www.cbc.ca/sports/football/cfl/cfl-randy-ambrosie-house-of-commons-testimony-1.5560467

...During his testimony, Ambrosie said the league's future is "very much in jeopardy," adding CFL teams collectively lost about $20 million last year. He admitted for the first time the most likely scenario for the CFL is a cancelled 2020 season."Ours is a big brand but not a wealthy business," Ambrosie said. "Unlike large U.S.-based leagues, our biggest source of revenue is not TV — it's ticket sales.

"Governments coping with COVID-19 — for reasons of public health that we totally support — have made it impossible for us to do what we do. Our best-case scenario for this year is a drastically truncated season. And our most likely scenario is no season at all."...

Yep, that's a lot of talented players, a step away from the NFL in some cases. CFL strongest by far - Brutal that they may have to shutdown, even if it's for one year.

There is no Regina RR, they have always been the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The CFL has a paper thin budget and cannot be viable on TV alone. They need attendance and a lot.

They should change the wikipedia page then.

Perhaps if they changed their name to something people can actually spell while drunk, they would have a larger following that is befitting a franchise that has been around for ever.

Cmon, Laker. CFL is a great sport!

I WISH american football was as exciting. In order to cut down on collision injuries...I really think Amer FB should explore expanding the field dimensions to CFL standards. Too many big bodies in small spaces.

    They know this too, Chucky.

Arena football had 8 man teams on a smaller field but had some of the action of CFL as far as pre snap.
