    Sunday Update

Cowboys | Andy Dalton signing with Dallas
Free-agent QB Andy Dalton (Bengals) is signing a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys worth up to $7 million with $3 million guaranteed, according to a source.

Steelers | Lighter workload for James Conner?
Pittsburgh Steelers RB James Conner will likely have his carries 'cut back' in order to keep him healthy and to utilize other backs more frequently, according to Ed Bouchette of The Athletic.

Steelers | Instant impact for Chase Claypool?
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Chase Claypool should 'work his way quickly' into the starting lineup as an outside receiver, according to Ed Bouchette of The Athletic

Patriots | Devin Asiasi an option to start?
New England Patriots TE Devin Asiasi may compete for the starting tight end job during training camp depending on how well he picks up the offense this offseason.
Footballguys view: He might be the front-runner for the top spot. Asiasi is a good all-around tight end, a 'Y' tight end in NFL lingo. He's not a supreme playmaker but he's consistent and knows how to get open.

Bengals | No option for John Ross
Cincinnati Bengals WR John Ross will not have his fifth-year option exercised this offseason, according to a source.
Footballguys view: No surprise here. It's been mostly downhill for Ross ever since he set the Combine record in the 40-yard dash. Injuries and inconsistencies have plagued his game, so now he'll be set to hit free agency in 2021. When healthy, Ross is a deep threat with a nose for the big play...and the end zone. It will be interesting to see how he gels with QB Joe Burrow this season.

Bears | Mitchell Trubisky's option declined
Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky will not have his fifth-year option picked up this offseason, according to a source.
Footballguys view: Zero surprise here. Trubisky has failed to impress as a starter for the Bears from his rookie season in 2017. The Bears traded for Nick Foles to compete with Trubisky for the starting job this year. Trubisky is now set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2021.

Colts | Indy backfield timeshare foreseen
Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor was one draft analyst's favorite picks of Round 2, and that analyst says Taylor's addition will allow the Colts to play 'bully ball' with Taylor and Marlon Mack sharing the load to wear down opposing defenses.
Footballguys view: It's clear the Colts wanted to upgrade the talent in the backfield and that's why they selected Taylor in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Taylor is a powerful and intent runner who can grind down a defense. He has a no-nonsense style and a powerful gait which makes him tough to bring down when he builds a head of steam. Fantasy GMs are going to have to navigate this RBBC carefully. Taylor is the more talented back, but it's not like Mack is some scrub. He's good enough to cut into Taylor's touches this year. Add in Nyheim Hines as a receiving back and you can see how things are complicated from a fantasy perspective in this backfield.

Buccaneers | Will Tom Brady top 4,100 yards?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Tom Brady's over/under total on his 2020 passing yards has been set at 4,099.5 by Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
Footballguys view: Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians loves to air out the football. This team is going to pass as much as possible in 2020 with Brady leading the way. They have great targets in the passing game like WRs Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Add in three solid TEs (Rob Gronkowski, Cameron Brate, O.J. Howard) and you'll see why the number for Brady is projected to be over 4,000 yards. With his new team, Brady should be considered a QB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs.

NFL | Andy Dalton's options limited
Free agent QB Andy Dalton (Bengals) said the fact that other teams knew Cincinnati was drafting QB Joe Burrow with the No. 1-overall pick limited his trade and other options. 'There were several different factors,' Dalton said, via the team's website. 'This year there were a good amount of quarterbacks that were available. I think it would have worked out differently if I had been a free agent when the new league year started. I was still under contact and that hurt me. I'm sure teams knew they were going to take a quarterback No. 1 and they would release me and there was no reason to rush into anything.'
Footballguys view: It's all about what Dalton wants at this point in his career. Does he want to be a clear backup? Then he's got plenty of options. Does he want to have a chance to compete for a starting job? Then Dalton has only a few teams that would fit that bill. He asked for his release and it was granted, so one would imagine that he wants a chance to push someone for a starting job. That wasn't going to happen with Burrow as the No.1 overall pick and clear franchise QB for the Bengals.

Andy Dalton is a great insurance policy for the Cowboys. Cam Newton will probably end up signing part way through the season when QB's start to get hurt.

Tom Brady will get 4500 yards that’s less than 285 a game and with his weapons I feel like that’s a manageable number

Agreed, both their draft and free agent acquisitions have been pretty dreadful of late.
