Should Pete Rose get reinstated and be in HOF?

Nobody even gives a shit about gambling anymore, and he DID NOT bet against his own team.

Hall of fame for sure player performance. Reinstatement to earn from representing a team, unsure.

    My sentiments exactly.
No, no, no, a thousand times no.

Rose was a compiler, by that I mean he played 24 seasons, if Jeter hung on for 2 or 2.5 more years he would have caught Rose.
That all time hit king label is a tad deceiving, he averaged 194 hits per season.
Rose was in an All Universe lineup that featured Johnny Bench, Tony Perez, Joe Morgan, Geronimo, George Foster, my God you had no choice but to pitch to Rose.
Let's put that 194 hits per season into perspective, Vladimir in 16 seasons averaged 195 per.
Jeter? Try 204 hits on the average for 20 years. That's 10 more hits per year than Rose.

I can list 20 more players who average more than 194 hits per season, but I won't you get my point.

Lastly he broke the cardinal rule. NO GAMBLING ON BASEBALL.
It's written in every dugout in indelible ink for all to see.
    You can't miss it.

Yes Chico, a giant piece of shit.
    Charlie Hustle, no.
    Charlie Hustler, yes.

No. He committed the worst crime when it comes to pro sports. No gambling. And how the fuk do you know he didn't bet against his own team? Because he said he didnt? He should be given a life time prison sentence on top of life time ban from baseball.

He's stirring the pot for one reason and one reason only.
    Monetary gain.
He's selfish, he wants that Hall of Fame moniker to enhance the value of his autograph.
He knows the value of a signature that reads "Pete Rose, Hall of Famer" is worth compared to a plain old Pete Rose signature.
Don't kid yourself there's a reason why I (and others) refer to him as Charlie Hustler.

    Pete Rose
has played in the most career games of any player (3,562). He has the most career at-bats of any player (14,053). He has the most seasons of 200+ hits (10) and is the only player in MLB history to have played in 500 games at five different positions (1B, 2B, 3B, LF, and RF.)

This. Nash that spoils all your stats, and is it his fault he loved the game so much he played that long. And he didn't only play for the Reds pal.

    Bcats?
You know I love you pal, but it just proves my point of Rose being a compiler.
And those Phillies teams he played for in the early '80's that featured Steve Carlton and Michael Jack Schmidt were hardly chopped liver.
As a matter of fact the 1980 Phils won the WS and the 1981 Phils lost in the NL playoffs.
Hey, no denying his love for the game, I have the same love for baseball, but there's more to it than that.

Jeter had 3465 hits in a 20 year career. That is an average of 173.25/year. If he played 2 or 2.5 more years he wouldn't have come close the all time record.

dude, . Bunch of my friends grew up with him. Iplayed in competitive flag football against him. Before they got him on the i.r.s situation he was under investigation for a shitload of other shit. there is a reason that johnny bench and him weren't friends for 2 decades. Joe morgan had to broker where they would even speak. guy was partners in a winning pick 6 ticket with mike battaglia and stiffed him. There is so much other shit i know that i would be afraid to even voice.

pete could of paid the money he had to the bookie and would of cost him less than 200,000. Instead he thought he could stiff guy and cost him millions. Ask yourself this...why did pete have to go to buffalo, new york to find a bookie? Why did he admit to using greenies all those years. Why did he pitch soto on 3 days rest 19 out of 30 starts that year?(which shortened his career) Why did he cut tony perez to play himself as a player/manager. Anyone that says he didn't bet against his team is clueless/ When he doesn't bet on his team it means he don't think they can win.
If i ever meet you guys i will tell you how he got caught on the gambling shit.

Aww shucks, I don't know how to take this.
I'm big analytics guy, there's a shit load of analytics going on in baseball.
However I don't take it to the nth degree, while I place a premium on the saber numbers I still believe in the manager who throws out the book and plays the hot hand too regardless of what the numbers say.

He deserves to be in the HOF, despite the fact that he's a total piece of shit, possibly the ultimate broke dik fuk. Do a google search for "degenerate baseball" on google... his image is the second that shows up (only because there is apparently a website actually called degeneratebaseball.com)

If SBR was around in the 1970's he would have been the most active member. Now that I think about it... there's an 80% chance he lurks on these forums actually. And there's a 15% chance he's an active poster currently... Actually, there's a 2% chance he's already posted in this thread...

Cmon, fess up Mr. Rose, send me a pm, I promise to keep your secret.
