    Why do you bet?

Why do you bet? How did you get involved?

Initially, as sports fans I think isn't a natural evolution. We follow along and then think we know what is going to happen. Then we bet and find out that's not the case.

Is your goal to win money? Do you just like the process of running the numbers and trying to beat the books? Is it just a casual thing to increase your interest in something that you wouldn't otherwise have interest in? Curious as to your reasons.

at first i did it to make money. seemed easy to me to just pick one of two teams. thought i would get rich and it would allow me to live the life i always wanted to live. this was more when i was younger and making less. then i realized it is very difficult and depositing with no returns is useless.

now i bet smaller and if i am able to make a withdrawal for more than my deposit i am happy. there is an entertainment factor which i enjoy. i like the rush i feel seeing if my team can win or comeback to win to make me a winner.

Here's my story : I don't usually "elaborate" on anything really, but I felt compelled to tell a story as our beloved AutoDonk does about every time he is on here regarding his sexcapades. It's like he grows a boner as he revisits every "fudged" moment in his sex life.

So how I got involved you ask OP ? Well I'm 37 & have lived in South Florida all my life born in Miami & lived here for most of adolescent days as they often say. So I was always a HUGE college football fan, starting even when I was 10 years old I was glued to the TV set watching NCAAF all day & playing in the living room imagining I was one of them as my dad went to play golf & my mother went to fool around with the neighbor (male) playing tennis as she initially claimed lol whole other story there. I'd say around 13 though since I watched so much football year after year I developed a sense of wanting to predict the outcomes of certain games other than my beloved UM as they were a great team to root for in the 80-90's & then again in the early 2000's. Anyways my dad would bring home the good old "parlay cards" from his country club & that's how I got into the numbers of the sport & the only thing back then really to use as a capping tool was the newspaper & magazines with stats, trends & players in them no internet for me in the household until about 97-98 if I recall correctly. Anyways I kept a log through the years of my ATS record & I'm talking at least 500 plays logged in a journal in my teens & my winning percentage was 58%, I'll never forget that exact "sum". So even back then I felt confident I could make money betting on games. This was strictly NCAAF nothing else. I didn't start betting on every other sport until I was 18-19 year old working at Sportsline.com & VegasInsider.com. They had a branch in Ft. Lauderdale where I worked & did the "live stats" for games on the internet making 50 bucks a game before they implemented 10 dollars an hour half way through my time there. I also sold fantasy sports & Vegas Insiders handicapping picks from their professionals as they claimed lol remember the "GOLD SHEET" ? they sucked real bad unreal I was fading them back then at 10 dollars a pop. Needless to say there was a BOOKIE working in the office @ Sportsline.com so I was betting in the office with this young asshole who claimed to be wealthy & I got stiffed for nearly 500 dollars as he left town & went bust, (some degenerate hit a 6 team parlay in the office) plus he owed several f.u.c.k.s to boot. The guy straight quit his job/disappeared. Anyways as the internet became so regularly accessible I started betting online & with no other than Sportsbook.com. After they took about 20k from me betting irresponsibly for 3-4 years, I hit a 4 team parlay risking 1 dime & the pay out was 18k. I remember the exact bet it was a correlated parlay which they don't allow anymore. I had the NY Yankees -1.5 & the over also had the Atlanta Braves & the under, Both plus money on the side plays. Anyways they stiffed me when it was time to collect, using a lame excuse I abused their bonus system because I was playing with their many "sister books" & collected multiple deposit bonuses. Even Bill Dozer couldn't help me back then to collect my winnings. To this day if you look back on Sportsbookreview news my story is listed, I'll have to find it & link it here. So anyways that's how I got started . Excuse me if that was long winded or boring OP.

Started bcause I thought I knew sports and would be a success story. Didn't take long and fortunately realized I sucked when handing local an envelope every week. Still took a long time to realize trying to lead a good life while trying to be a successful gambler was to tough. When I worked all day and night, there was no time to have any chance.

To answer the other 3 questions which one seems to be correlated. Yes I bet now to make money & no I don’t bet on a game to make it become “watchable”. I’ve supported myself with average to slightly above average income 3 out of the last 4 years betting on sports. Let me tell you one thing that helps me a lot. I’m patient AS FUK. I don’t need daily action & I can’t find value in daily action, maybe it’s because I’m too lazy to really find it or it’s just not my style. I’ve always prescribed to the best bet theory & some days if I so happen to like multiple teams/games I’ll put together a parlay always backed by individual bets. I’ve always prescribed to this motion. The more I win the more I gamble, not always amounts per say but volume. I bet anywhere from 100 on parlays & I kid you not 33% of my income the last 3-4 years has been from winning parlay bets. Maybe that’s all luck and that’s why I’m still in the game. My other bets are a minimum of 1000 to 5000 depending on sport/confidence. A 10k bank roll is a minimum each year for a starting point to indulge in this business for me personally. There’s specific reasons why I’ve attempted to do this as most people won’t even try unless by default they are unemployed. My day job is a electrician and I’ve worked in the construction trade for over 10 years. Long story short my asshole uncle Johnny SOLD my grandfather’s company eight years ago and stole hundreds of thousands from my father & myself. So the trade has rubbed me the wrong way & working for other companies directly never really works out. I will do anything and everything to not go back and work for the man, the man my own family my uncle F.U.C.K.E.D me & my future to run the family business.

When I started as a young pup many(actually many, many, many) moons ago, it was to win $. Actually to win $$$. I even ran numbers for my dad and then handled my own football pools. Now, after realizing it is difficult (no, very very) to steadily beat the man...... (you easily can beat him for a day, nail him for a week, certainly you can have your way with him for a month and even beat his ass for a year once in awhile.) But if you think you are going to make big steady money over the long run, you are just disillusioned. And are kidding the worst possible person in the world............yourself. I have learned, pick your spots, never chase and keep the wagers small enough to never lose what you can't afford, but big enough to make it interesting So, it's Just entertainment now for me, a nice hobby. And, I do fairly well, never win alot but never lose alot either Got it to the point where .I havent had to fund any of my books in over 5 years. Good Luck
