that's because he is known for Offense but the SEC is known for Defense. it will be interesting to see what he does. he is from CA but has a tinge of a southern drawl so i think he will fit in nicely with the folk down in MS.

i wonder what his offenses will do against the likes of D at bama, lsu, and auburn, though

He needs to learn to run the ball. Washington did the same thing to him year after year rushing 3 and dropping 8 in coverage and Leach couldn't figure out what to do. Definition of insanity

    My initial thought too.
When was the last time Mississippi State was relevant?
    Will they ever be relevant?

most people (including me) thought the same about Spurrier when he went to SoCaro.

all spurrier did was win 86 games in 11 yrs (average of nearly 8 wins per year) and from 2011 through 2013 he had three straight Top 10 finishes and won 33 games in that three year stretch.

granted, the SEC east is weaker than the SEC west but i don't see why Leach cannot build Miss St to the 3rd best program behind Bama and LSU. auburn is up and down and the other 3 schools are not great either (a&m, ole piss, and arkie)

maybe during the flirtation he overplayed or underplayed his hand. you never with that guy but if he has a good agent that can be averted.

back in september spurrier said "someone is going to hire mike leach. let's hope it isn't florida state" (spurrier respects leach a lot)

but "someone is going to hire mike leach...." is too phukking funny because leach already had the wazzu job for 8 years !!!

well that year that Tatddy and Rudy went to the Miss State vs Georgia game in Athens

Miss State was ranked pretty high, BUT they were very quickly exposed and dropped out of the top 25 shortly there after

I hear it’s kind of a ghetto city and the women are not as hot as Ole Miss’s

Miss State was pretty strong in the early 90's when jackie sherrill was there. he had the infamous "castration of the cow" deal right in front of his team before they played texas.

His gimmick offense doesn't work against legitimate Top 20 teams; given the possible hype surrounding this hiring, the under might be a good bet when the team win totals are released.
