Well, they make a limit to try and make it possible for everyone to compete, as a sales tool. (ethically questionable for this sort of contest when they cannot police a syndicate like this circumventing that limit easily)

In a week like this there was far less high % chance lineups than usual, so if there were unlimited entries maybe a lot of people would have shared first prize.

So a syndicate working as one effective entry has an extra large unfair advantage over people following the published rules in this NFL week.

One question that still comes to mind though... if fantasy is so corrupt and "everyone cheats" using syndicate entries like this, then why did they win the first prize alone?

    everyone doesnt cheat

but im sure most of those 150 max entries have atleast 1 or 2 friends in it with max entries

they are suffocating the fish worse than bots at poker collecting VPPs at stars

It would be interesting to know how many 150 max entries they had.

    He didn't gain an advantage

The problem is other players were disadvantaged

For example if there was a poker tournament with 1000 entries and a guaranteed prize pool, a pro entering 100 clones of himself instead of 1 entry would reduce his variance but decrease his ROI in the long run. Meanwhile it had nothing but negative effects on other players because those 100 pro clones took spots that could have gone to some amateurs or less skilled players.

you can submit 300 entries and win cash with multiple entries, which is likely if you are wheeling around high leverage picks that pan out (like D.K metcalf or Derrick Henry.

So you could have 152 of your 300 entries win cash

    still no advantage?
this is the main point and its all computer generated and entered

your time is not wasted and each individual lineup is still +EV if you are that smart

theyll need to get rid of it like some poker sites got rid of sharscope/hud

noone sits there and enters 150 (or in this case was it 294 various lineups)

If it is as simple of using some analysis software and clicking a button, again, why is there only one first prize winner?

I'm not arguing, I don't know fantasy at all, just saying that it doesn't make sense.

    NO advantage per entry

They are just getting more money in play and if they are a winning player the fact they are getting more in play would be the advantage, but it doesn't increase their ROI per entry

Also, like you said if most of those entries have similar core picks you're going to have a lot of similar scores competing for and splitting the same prizes. For example if he is fortunate enough to be in the top 20 of a millionaire tourney with a couple of entries the lower of the 2 is drastically affected by his other one being higher because the price jumps are so significant when you place so high.

i dont follow fantasy football and have never actually risked money on it unless it was a freeplay or something

but take golf, 144 player field and lets say i think 30 guys are +EV at their price per point i expect them to get

its impossible to know how many combinations there are since we dont know the prices but im sure its way more than 300

    same response for dlow

and you have to think of it like this:

ok we bet sports plays when we think 100% to win, its a lock

but you bet 55%, 54.9%, 53.6%, etc etc because the plays are still +EV

this is what happens with lineups

plus as someone said, the field payout is so top heavy

but you also make cash back with your min cashes

lets say you find in the sportsbook

    team A: +150 at +7.5

    another book

    team B: :+150 at -6.5

who knows which side has the most value?

both are +EV if we consider the current line at 7

so a sharp will say, oh yea i want that

and does that for 20-30 players

So why allow 150 entries and not 15, per person? This is just a number they pulled out of their ass trying to strike a balance between being greedy for vig and making it look to the fish that they stand a chance.

It's very rare for those big first prizes to be shared because they usually include a couple of fuked up picks no one would think of

Does anyone here have access to optimizers? Are these programs that you buy or are they free? And is it really possible for these 2 people to not enter in 300 different lineups, but have a computer do it for you on the DraftKings website?

This is #1 problem. As family they should have 150 unique lineups not 300 or 298.

The payout structures in these huge tourneys are very top heavy

For example in the upcoming fanduel million dollar tourney you would have to place 15th to win $1000 off a $9 entry. 132,275 entrants, so that's in the top .001%
