NFL Player News - Divisional Playoffs Week

    Courtesy of Footballguys.com

SEA - Seattle advances to face Green Bay

    Source: ESPN

Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson completed 18-of-30 passes for 325 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in the NFC Wild Card Game Sunday, Jan. 5 against the Philadelphia Eagles. He also led the team with 45 rushing yards. RB Marshawn Lynch rushed six times for just seven yards, but he had a touchdown and 25 receiving yards. WR DK Metcalf had seven grabs for a game-best 160 yards and a touchdown, while WR Tyler Lockett had four grabs for 62 yards. WR David Moore also chipped in with 57 yards on two grabs, while TE Jacob Hollister had two grabs for 16 yards on four targets. S Bradley McDougald had 11 total stops with a sack, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit, while LB/DE Jadeveon Clowney also had five total stops, a sack, two tackles for loss and a quarterback hit.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Seahawks are built for a deep postseason run and they got their first game out of the way. Playing on the road against the Packers is going to be much more difficult. Seattle didn't run the ball well against the Eagles and QB Russell Wilson was the team's leading rusher with 45 yards. They'll need to be better on the ground if they want to take down the Packers in the Divisional Round.

DAL - Jason Garrett officially relieved of duties

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

The Dallas Cowboys have officially fired head coach Jason Garrett on Sunday, Jan. 5, and Garrett has allowed them to do so, a source confirmed.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We've been waiting ever since the end of the regular season for the Cowboys to make an announcement here. They've now officially ended Garrett's time as their head coach and have already begun their search for his replacement. Former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy reportedly had a good visit with the Cowboys brass and he may be considered the front-runner in this job search but it's super early.

MIN - Minnesota moving on to next round

    Source: NFL.com

Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins went 19-for-31 for 242 yards and one touchdown against the New Orleans Saints in the Wild Card playoff game. RB Dalvin Cook rushed for 94 yards and two touchdowns on 28 carries and caught three passes for 36 yards. RB Alexander Mattison rushed for 20 yards on five carries and caught one pass for 10 yards. WR Adam Thielen caught seven passes for 129 yards on nine targets. TE Kyle Rudolph caught four passes for 31 yards and one touchdown on seven targets, while WR Stefon Diggs caught two passes for 19 yards on three targets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cousins was able to make big plays when it counted. He was not known for making plays in big or primetime games but Cousins was money on Sunday. The Vikings ran the ball well and controlled the tempo of the game with their rushing attack. It will be a battle of two similarly structured offenses in the Divisional Round as they take on the 49ers.

BUF - RB Frank Gore unsure about future

Source: WGR Sports Radio 550 - Sal Capaccio

Buffalo Bills RB Frank Gore said his body still feels good but is not sure if he will play next season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Gore appeared in 16 games this past season for the Bills. He was a great mentor for rookie Devin Singletary and rushed for 599 yards and two touchdowns. Gore is now the No.3 all-time rusher in NFL history with 15,352 yards over the course of his career. He is an unrestricted free agent in March and who knows if he's going to keep playing.

TB - RB Peyton Barber hopes to return

Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers impending free-agent RB Peyton Barber said he would like to re-sign with the Buccaneers this offseason.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Buccaneers added Barber as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in 2016. Since that time, Barber has been the top back for the team here and there, rushing for 1,987 yards and 15 touchdowns. Ronald Jones is now the starter for the Buccaneers, and the team may not consider Barber much of a priority as they'll look to upgrade the position behind Jones.

PIT - TE Nick Vannett has chance to return

    Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor

Pittsburgh Steelers impending free-agent TE Nick Vannett could re-sign with the Steelers this offseason if the team moves on from TE Vance McDonald. The Steelers are also expected to target a tight end during the 2020 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Vannett was traded back in late September and played 13 games with the Steelers in 2019. He only caught 13 passes for 128 yards with his new team but he could have a larger role if Vannett stays with the Steelers for 2020. In 2020, McDonald will earn a base salary of $5.5 million while carrying a cap hit of $7.1 million and a dead cap value of $1.45 million.

HOU - WR Will Fuller likely to play next weekend

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (groin) is expected to be ready for the Divisional Round game versus the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, Jan. 12, barring a setback.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fuller is always day-to-day with this groin injury. He'll be limited in practice all week with a chance to play in the Divisional Round. The Texans travel to play the Chiefs on Sunday, January 12th.

NE - QB Tom Brady not planning to retire

    Source: MMQB - Albert Breer

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady said retirement is 'pretty unlikely' following a loss to the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round Saturday, Jan. 4.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady wants to play until he's 45-years old and he turns 43 later this year. He is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason and he cannot be franchise tagged by the Patriots. If he does continue playing, it may not be with the Pats. It's going to be incredibly odd if he ends up with another team in 2020.

NE - Benjamin Watson calling it quits?

    Source: WEEI.com - Ryan Hannable

New England Patriots TE Benjamin Watson said Saturday, Jan. 4, that he is likely retiring following the loss to the Tennessee Titans in the Wild Card round. 'There's only so much your body can take,' Watson said. 'It's been a great run.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Watson was a first-round pick for the Patriots coming out of Georgia back in 2004. During his 15-year career, Watson snared 547 passes for 6060 yards and 44 touchdowns. He was never really a star at the position but he was a solid player for years with three-down ability in stops with the Patriots, Saints, Browns and Ravens.

DET - QB Matthew Stafford sharp when healthy

    Source: ESPN.com

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford (back, hip) ranked second in the NFL in passing yards per game (312.4), second in yards per pass attempt (8.6) and fifth in QBR (70.1) in the eight games he played in 2019.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There is no doubt that Stafford is a fine quarterback, and he was playing good football before he was hurt. He's got plenty of time to get to full strength this offseason and should be playing at a high level upon his return.

PIT - WR Diontae Johnson busy as a rookie

    Source: NFL.com

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson led all rookies with 59 receptions this season, finishing with 680 receiving yards and five scores.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers know how to find wide receiver talent in the draft, and that's what they did with another pick here in Johnson. A third-round pick out of Toledo, Johnson was a big-play specialist for the Steelers and should be the No.2 receiver for them opposite of JuJu Smith-Schuster in 2020. With Ben Roethlisberger back at quarterback, Johnson should be able to post even better numbers in his sophomore season.

    Tuesday Update

DAL - Mike McCarthy agrees with Dallas

Source: FOX Sports - Jay Glazer

Former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy agreed to become the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys Monday, Jan. 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Okay, forget that 'super early' stuff we were talking about on Sunday when the team officially relieved former head coach Jason Garrett of his duties. McCarthy did impress during his meeting with the team last week and they didn't take long making a decision. McCarthy was out of coaching in 2019 but the Browns, Giants and Panthers (in addition to the Cowboys) all showed interest. Things did not end well for McCarthy in Green Bay but now he'll get a fresh start as the head coach of a Cowboys team that has a ton of talent. We'll see if McCarthy can be the key to get them over the top and in the Super Bowl hunt.

NFL - Tua Tagovailoa turning pro

    Source: FOXSports.com - Bruce Feldman

University of Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa announce his intention to enter the 2020 NFL Draft on Monday, Jan. 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Dolphins here. Tagovailoa is likely to be a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft even though his final season at Alabama ended with a serious hip injury. He may not be able to work out for teams before the draft as he recovers from hip and ankle surgery. Tagovailoa is reportedly high on the Dolphins wish list and they have three first-round picks to secure his services. They might go ahead and take Tagovailoa with the No.5 overall pick, but they do have No.18 overall (Steelers) and one more yet undetermined pick in the first round they acquired from the Texans in 2019.

SEA - More work ahead for RB Marshawn Lynch?

    Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch logged only 18 snaps in the NFC Wild Card game, but head coach Pete Carroll told 710 ESPN on Monday, Jan. 6, that he believes Lynch is ready to handle more of a workload now that he has two games under his belt.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Lynch has to be back in a groove after a couple of games since his return. Seattle may need to lean on him as they continue their postseason run. He'll at least continue as their primary back when they get near pay dirt.

NE - QB Tom Brady could leave New England

    Source: ESPN - Jeff Darlington

New England Patriots impending free-agent QB Tom Brady returning to the Patriots is far from a guarantee, according to ESPN's Jeff Darlington.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady is set to be an unrestricted free agent later this year and he has no plans of retiring. He cannot be franchise-tagged by the Patriots so barring a new deal with New England, Brady will be on the open market. Many are having fun speculating on where Brady could end up with the Chargers or the Raiders perhaps being the most popular potential destinations for the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

NO - QB Drew Brees mum on his future

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Mike Florio

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees declined to make any comment on his future in the wake of the team's Wild Card loss to the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Jan. 5.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Saints have some interesting decisions in front of them. With the team failing to make the most of their Super Bowl window, one has to wonder how much time they have left with Brees. The veteran superstar turns 41 later this month and is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

NFL - Quintez Cephus turning pro

    Source: Twitter - Quintez Cephus

University of Wisconsin WR Quintez Cephus announced his intention to enter the 2020 NFL Draft on Monday, Jan. 6.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cephus was the Badgers leading receiver this year with 59 catches for 901 yards and seven touchdowns. He's a reliable receiver with a big frame to box out defenders who gets by on guile more so than incredible athleticism. Right now, Cephus is considered a Day 3 pick in the draft due to the deep and talented wide receiver class. He'll have some off-field questions to answer after being cleared of sexual assault charges before the 2019 season.

NFL - Lynn Bowden declares for draft

Source: Louisville Courier Journal - Jon Hale

University of Kentucky QB/WR Lynn Bowden announced his intention to enter the 2020 NFL Draft via social media prior to the team's Belk Bowl game on Dec. 31.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bowden began his final season at Kentucky as a wide receiver but when injuries decimated the position he ended up at quarterback. Playing seven games at quarterback for the Wildcats, Bowden showed his incredible athleticism and versatility. We'll see how he tests at the Scouting Combine later this year, but Bowden should put on a show. Bowden is considered a late second- or early third-round pick by some in the scouting community.

PHI - No surgery for RB Miles Sanders

Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane

Philadelphia Eagles RB Miles Sanders (knee) was spotted wearing a brace on his left knee and on crutches following the team's NFC Wild Card loss to the Seattle Seahawks, but he insisted he will not require offseason surgery.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the young back here. The Eagles found a quality starter when they picked up Sanders as a second-round pick out of Penn State in the 2019 NFL draft. He began the year as a reserve player but moved up the depth chart and into the starting role. He finished his rookie year with 818 rushing yards, three rushing touchdowns, 50 catches, 509 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns. Fantasy GMs can look at him as an RB2 with upside as the Eagles lead back for the 2020 season.

    Wednesday Update

CAR - Matt Rhule headed to Carolina

Source: Yahoo! Sports - Pete Thamel

Baylor head coach Matt Rhule is finalizing a deal to become the Carolina Panthers head coach Tuesday, Jan. 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rhule turned around Baylor in three years and now makes the jump to the NFL. Panthers owner Dave Tepper moved quickly as Rhule was set to be interviewed by the New York Giants on Tuesday. He turned down a meeting with the Browns earlier this month and reports indicated that Rhule would remain at Baylor. Tepper must've been able to change his mind, likely with a hefty salary. The Panthers won't have a quarterback if/when they trade Cam Newton this offseason, so Rhule will likely be starting from scratch at the position.

NYG - Joe Judge hired by Giants

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New England Patriots special teams and wide receivers coach Joe Judge was hired as head coach by the New York Giants Tuesday, Jan. 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Judge obviously learned from one of the All Timer greats with Bill Belichick and will get his chance to be the top guy with the Giants.

NYG - Jason Garrett on NYG OC radar

    Source: ESPN - Ed Werder

Updating previous reports, former Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is of interest to the New York Giants as an offensive coordinator.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It won't take long for Garrett to get back to work. Being a coordinator is perhaps better suited for his skill set. We'll see the Giants make a move here in the near future whether it's Garrett or somebody else.

MIN - Full practice for RB Dalvin Cook

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) fully participated in practice Tuesday, Jan. 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook is good to go for the Divisional Round. He missed time at the end of the regular season with an eye on returning for the playoffs. Cook was huge for the Vikings in the Wild Card Round against the Saints, and they'll lean on him once again versus the 49ers on Saturday.

MIN - WR Stefon Diggs not practicing

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (illness) is not participating in practice Tuesday, Jan. 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Diggs has to get healthy in a shorter window than a normal week as the Vikings travel to play the 49ers in the Divisional Round on Saturday. We'll see if he can get out there on Thursday or Friday.

TEN - WR Adam Humphries still not on field

Tennessee Titans WR Adam Humphries (ankle) did not participate in practice Tuesday, Jan. 7.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It's not a good sign for Humphries' availability for the Divisional Round game against the Ravens on Saturday. The Titans have A.J. Brown, Tajae Sharpe, and Corey Davis as their top three wideouts.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews listed as limited

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (ankle) was limited during practice Tuesday, Jan. 7.

Andrews could be limited another day in practice with an eye on a full participation on Friday. The Ravens are at home to take on the Titans in the Divisional Round on Saturday.

BAL - RB Mark Ingram not at practice Tuesday

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Baltimore Ravens RB Mark Ingram (calf) was not spotted at practice Tuesday, Jan. 7. Ingram reportedly practiced at full speed last week, but he and the team decided to 'pull back' after Ingram experienced tightness in hopes of avoiding re-injury, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ingram may be a game-time decision for the Divisional Round. The team has been hoping he'd be ready but it sounds like that tightness in his calf could be a bit of a setback. Stay tuned.

    Thursday Update

NE - QB Tom Brady not done

    Source: Instagram

New England Patriots impending free-agent QB Tom Brady hinted on his Instagram that he wasn't ready to retire. 'In both life and football, failure is inevitable. You don't always win. You can, however, learn from that failure, pick yourself up with great enthusiasm, and place yourself in the arena again. And that's right where you will find me. Because I know I still have more to prove,' Brady wrote.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brady wants to play until he's 45-years old and he's 42 right now (turning 43 later this year). He's going to be a free agent and cannot be franchise-tagged by the Patriots. There is a chance we see him playing elsewhere in 2020, but one thing seems certain -- Brady will keep playing next season.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Stefon Diggs (illness) is missing practice and Thielen is a little banged up. This dynamic duo should be out there Saturday against the 49ers in the Divisional Round.

NFL - Jake Fromm entering 2020 draft

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Georgia QB Jake Fromm announced Wednesday, Jan. 8, that he will be entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fromm is one of the most cerebral quarterbacks in the 2020 NFL draft. He's not going to 'wow' you with measurables or arm strength. However, Fromm does not how to pick apart a zone defense and can work the short-to-intermediate game with accuracy. He's likely to be a late first- or early second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

BAL - RB Mark Ingram day to day

    Source: BaltimoreRavens.com

Baltimore Ravens RB Mark Ingram (calf) is day to day, according to offensive coordinator Greg Roman.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ingram missed time at the end of the regular season to get healthy but he suffered a bit of a setback. His status for Saturday's game against the Titans is up in the air.

LAC - RB Melvin Gordon expected to move on

    Source: ESPN.com - Eric D. Williams

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon is 'unlikely to return' to the club in 2020, in the opinion of ESPN's Eric D. Williams. Gordon is set to become an unrestricted free agent.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zero surprise here. Gordon held out to get a new contract with the Chargers in 2019 but to no avail. The Chargers even tried to trade Gordon but could not get any interest. The former first-round pick (2015) only has one 1,000-yard season to his credit and has battled the injury bug during his career. He'll get some interest but the market may not be as hot for his services as he'd want. Fantasy GMs have are best to take a wait-and-see approach with Gordon to see where he lands before getting too excited or dismayed about his 2020 potential.

He certainly looked old this year.....I’d say a bottom third QB. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I expect 90% of his completions were 10 yards or less.

Like the blurb says, Brady will play until he is 45. Provided he is still effective and barring injury of course.

    Friday Update

CAR - QB Cam Newton still an option in Carolina?

    Source: ESPN.com - David Newton

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton (foot) wasn't ruled out as a potential starting option for the 2020 season by new head coach Matt Rhule Wednesday, Jan. 8. 'I certainly look forward to working with him. I hope so. But I don't know enough about, really, everything that's kinda happening
right now,' Rhule said when asked if Newton is part of the team's future plans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The future is unclear for Newton but speculation remains that he will be on the trade block this offseason. The 2015 NFL MVP is coming off of season-ending foot surgery and will enter the final year of his contract.

MIN - WR Stefon Diggs cleared for Saturday

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Stefon Diggs (illness) practiced in full Thursday, Jan. 9, and was removed from the injury report for his team's Divisional Round game against the San Francisco 49ers.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Diggs missed a couple of practices this week dealing with this injury. With Adam Thielen banged up (ankle) the team may need Diggs more than usual.

MIN - RB Dalvin Cook set for Divisional Round

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) practiced in full Thursday, Jan. 9, and was removed from the injury report for the team's Divisional Round game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cook helped the team run over the Saints in the Wild Card game. He'll be the centerpiece of what they do on offense against the 49ers on Saturday.

MIN - WR Adam Thielen doesn't practice Thursday

    Source: Vikings.com

Minnesota Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) didn't practice Thursday, Jan. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thielen received stitches for a cut he sustained during practice on Wednesday. The Vikings are going to limit him until they play on Saturday against the 49ers.

BAL - RB Mark Ingram officially questionable

    Source: TitansOnline.com

Baltimore Ravens RB Mark Ingram (calf) was limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 9, and is listed as questionable for the team's Divisional Round game against the Tennessee Titans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ingram had a little bit of a setback with his calf injury but now seems like he'll be as ready as possible for Saturday's game.

BAL - TE Mark Andrews listed as questionable

    Source: TitansOnline.com

Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (ankle) was limited in practice Thursday, Jan. 9, and is listed as questionable for the team's Divisional Round game against the Tennessee Titans.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Andrews is not at full strength but he's still going to play against the Titans. The Ravens are one of the most dangerous offenses in the league, in part thanks to what Andrews can do at the tight end position.

HOU - Limited practice for WR Will Fuller

    Source: Chiefs.com

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (groin) was a limited participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Fuller should be able to go against the Chiefs on Sunday. However, Fuller is always a risk to get hurt or re-injure himself during the game. We'll see what kind of practice he can get in on Friday.

KC - TE Travis Kelce remains limited

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce (knee) was limited in practice once again Thursday, Jan. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Kelce is not 100 percent but he's going to be out there against the Texans in the Divisional Round. Expect him to be on the attack against a Texans defense that can be vulnerable to a playmaker like Kelce.

GB - RB Jamaal Williams stays full at practice

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers RB Jamaal Williams (shoulder) remained a full participant in practice Thursday, Jan. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams is good to go for the Divisional Round against Seattle. The Packers will run the ball early and often with Aaron Jones. Williams will serve as his primary backup and bring some power to the field when needed.

GB - TE Jimmy Graham limited Thursday

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers TE Jimmy Graham (wrist, non-injury) participated in a limited practice Thursday, Jan. 9.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Graham or somebody not named Davante Adams needs to elevate their game in the passing attack for the Divisional Round game against the Seahawks. The veteran tight end isn't quite what he used to be but perhaps he'll be able to shake free for Aaron Rodgers here and there.

TEN - WR Adam Humphries a no-go for divisional round

    Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport

Tennessee Titans WR Adam Humphries (ankle) has been ruled out for the team's NFC Divisional Round matchup against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday, Jan. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Zero surprise here. Humphries hasn't been able to play in over a month due to this ankle injury. The Titans are getting reserve receiver Kalif Raymond back for the Divisional Round after his missed time due to a concussion.

WAS - QB Dwayne Haskins not locked in as QB1

    Source: ESPN.com - John Keim

Washington Redskins QB Dwayne Haskins will need to earn the starting job leading up the 2020 season, according to comments made by head coach Ron Rivera, who said that, 'We won't know until we get ready to open up in September,' while also mentioning that the team has 'good veteran quarterbacks that [will] get some opportunities to play.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

A most....interesting...news item here. While we don't need Rivera to do cartwheels when talking about Haskins, most did expect him to declare with certainty that Haskins was their guy...at least for 2020. At the end of the day this is likely just coach-speak and Rivera doesn't want to overstate anything. Haskins needs better weapons around him and he can build on what he flashed in his rookie season.

NFL - Kendrick Rogers declares for draft

    Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams

Texas A&M WR Kendrick Rogers announced his intention to enter the 2020 NFL Draft on Wednesday, Jan. 8.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Rogers started seven games for the Aggies in 2019, catching 30 passes for 351 yards and two touchdowns. At 6'4" 204, Rogers has a nice size/athleticism combination but might only be a late-round pick or priority free agent.

NFL - Cole McDonald entering 2020 draft

    Source: NFLDraftScout.com - Matt Miller

Hawaii QB Cole McDonald announced on Twitter Wednesday, Jan. 8, he's entering the 2020 NFL Draft.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

McDonald has good size at 6'4" 220 pounds and he does throw with proper velocity. He threw 69 touchdowns over the last two seasons but turnovers have been a problem for the Warriors quarterback with 24 interceptions during that time. McDonald will likely be a late-round pick or priority free agent.

Why do these guys leave college and enter the NFL draft when they are going to be a late round pick or undrafted free agent? Cole McDonald at Hawaii and Tony Jones from Notre Dame come to mind.

Tough to say if he was scared or if it was rustiness from the 20 days off.

They should have kept Gus Edwards involved. He looked effective, but they went away from him. I think Ingram was still dinged up.

    Sunday Headline

HOU - WR Will Fuller will be active

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Will Fuller (groin) will be active for his team's Divisional Round game Sunday, Jan. 12, against the Kansas City Chiefs, according to league sources Saturday, Jan. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Good news for the Texans here. Fuller has the speed to take the top off the Chiefs defense. His return should provide a big boost for the Texans passing game.

Why is a wide receiver even playing football if they can't catch a ball thrown right to them? Like Turner last night.
