    Vegas Advice

Good morning, gentleman. Taking the wife to Vegas weekend after next for our anniversary.

First....Haven’t booked anything yet as I heard this time of year, the longer you wait the better deal you will get. Is that true?

Second... wife has only been to Vegas once. She stayed at the Aria. She just partied, shopped, walked around looked at hotels and touristy shit. I only want to bring a grand or two to gamble and feel like it will go a long way downtown... she said she’s cool with that because she wants to see old Vegas. Well... I haven said anything to her, but I think she thinks it’s gonna be like the movie Casino or something and really, she’s a classy lady and I don’t think she will like it downtown once she sees it. What do you think? Are there any newer, classier hotels down there? She did say she’d like to be able to go up to the room if I am gambling and she doesn’t want to hang out...

Third... what are the must try foodie-type restaurants?

Last... any other tips on where I should take her, things she would like, no overly touristy shit though. She really doesn’t like gambling, but I think I can fix that, I have a couple ideas, but anything there or any general advice unrelated to anything I have said would be appreciated.

Your money will stretch a lot further downtown than it will on the Strip. You can avoid Resort fees at Four Queens, if you'd like a classier place downtown... the Golden Nugget and the D are fairly nice. Even in the food courts, it can get pricey at Caesars and MGM properties. There is simply a lot more to do downtown, as soon as 4 p.m. rolls around Fremont Street starts hopping. Even though the strip might seem classier, you're not going to spend your whole week sitting in a nice hotel room at the Aria.
Vic & Anthony's is a very nice option at the Golden Nugget and Hugo's Cellar is a hit at Four Queens. If your wife doesn't like doing a lot of walking downtown is ideal, because you don't have to walk 22 minutes to get from one casino to another, you can do it in 22 seconds on Freemont. Out of the last 28 days I have spent in Las Vegas, I have only spent about two or three nights on the Strip, because of comps. I would much rather be downtown because of the price and because of the atmosphere, but to each their own.

Ya man, we stayed at the Nugget at the bash. I liked it, but I don’t think she will. On one hand she said she wanted to see downtown and wanted Goodfellas atmosphere, and then asked me if they had a W hotel in Vegas.

Me, Big O, and Philly had a nice dinner at Vick and Anthony’s. The other restaurant at the Nugget was pretty good too. Can’t remember the name—Italian joint.

My parents just spent their 50th at the Nugget. Loved Vic and Anthony and the lower limit tables, but if you're only going once every decade or so, stay at a nicer place on the strip and visit downtown one afternoon or early eve,

Take the wife to a nice hotel. I I’d recommend Wynn/Encore (especially Encore) highly If you’ve never stayed there and she’s already stayed at Aria. Beds are some of the most comfortable I’ve ever slept or done other things in. Also, it’s very modern.

Especially if she’s into any of the spa day stuff, don’t be cheap; stay at a nice place,

Paris is pretty nice if you want a smaller hotel vibe. Great piano bar and upper-tier Italian food place and steakhouse up top is above average but you’re paying more for the view. Also, Paris one of the best locations on the strip, as far as traveling or walking to other places.

Cesars, Bellagio and Venetian also top notch, and Ceasers and Venetian have tons of shops she can go to if you’re gambling.

I basically Vegas plan A (with my college buddies where we’re gambling and partying the entire trip), and Vegas plan B with the girlfriend where you have to take what she wants to do a majority of the time into account.

Sounds like you’re on my Vegas plan B, which can also be a lot of fun. We saw Lady Gaga and Rod Stewart last time out and dined very well,

A lot running booking promos now as well, Good luck and have fun!

    Literally.

JayVegas420 and Reigle9 probably my two favorite posters on the board.

    Going toe-to-toe. Great stuff.

I would normally love to sit on the sidelines and watch it play out but sitting here this morning listening to Merle, plus Riggles also threw a few bet points my way for a post.

So slight lean toward Riggles in this battle?? Sorry Jay!

Dude, do not go downtown except for a side trip.

Get a tower suite at the Wynn. If you want to gamble cheap go over to TI.

I stayed in various casinos and parts of Vegas for 3 months. To say downtown is depressing is an understatement. I stayed at the D and was eager to leave. Go spend 5 minutes by the McDonald’s inside the D and you’ll understand. Absolute shit show.
