    Theodore Samuel Williams
    Career .344 ave.
Age 20 to 30, AVE/year: Hit .353. 33 HR 130 RBI all while missing 3 full seasons right in the middle of his prime for military service.
By all accounts from his fellow servicemen, Williams was the best fighter pilot they ever saw. World class fly fisherman to boot.
Last player to hit .400. Hit .388 38 HR at age 38. No steroids.

I am not ripping Bonds, but I will nominate Williams as a close second.

He was amazing but I’ll take Griffey Jr. All natural and w/out injuries he likely would own all time hr record.

The only baseball player I would stop whatever I was doing to watch. Maybe 1 good pitch a whole game which he would always barrel up. Hands down the best hitter of our generation.
Agree he was all business when he was a player but now at the games, he will take pictures with you, shake your hand, etc. Our section loves watching him sit in the stands.

It would be reasonable to consider Williams or Ruth as the best hitters in baseball history, depending on how someone views the different environments they played in. There is a case for Bonds being among the best defensive left fielder in history. I think Yastrzemski and Minoso are the only two others to have won multiple Gold Gloves.

If his place in history is going to be degraded for using drugs after 1998, his accomplishments before then, while being clean and hitting against drugged up pitchers are mind-boggling. Best player in the league almost every year in the 90s, losing a couple MVP awards to drug users while remaining clean.

Griffey Jr is not all that close. An ops .150 higher, with almost 1000 more runs created. The difference between Bonds and Griffey is about the same as the difference between Griffey and Nick Markakis

Bonds on steroids is the best hitter of all time. Great eye, great bat speed, unreal power. I’ve never had more fun watching baseball than 97-04. Roid era was the best era.

    agreed.

He was super human, larger than life, only guy I’ve ever seen who is worth the cost of admission and worth flying across the country to see play a baseball game.

Was intentionally walked with the bases loaded in the 9th inning with opposing team up 2. With Jeff Kent on deck. Says a lot.
