    is gambling a skill?

Gamblers say that they deserve to win cus they work hard, are dedicated, etc etc.

But gambling isnt a skill in my opinion, you can spend hours on it, you can be dedicated, you can read, try to learn, in the end its a gamble.

Whats a skill is money management, what you think???

You have to have the right mind set to be successful. Those that have a sucky, whiny attitude who constantly talk about their bad beats and how they always get screwed, will continue to get screwed. If you have confidence in your plays and don't let losses bother you, you will have much more success.

In my early days, I had a sh!t attitude, and was always in a hole. I chased, and was out of the game quite often. I changed my mindset years ago, and success has come with it.

To maintain legality, Draftkings and FanDuel argued for years that fantasy Sports is a game of skill, and that sports betting is a game of chance, when in reality it's the exact opposite.

And now both companies reaping the awards from legal sports betting.

Look up the word hypocrite in the dictionary and you see the logo for these two companies.

Gambling may or may not be a skill but the fact remains, just like every other facet of life, you need skills to achieve a positive result..

Both sports betting & fantasy sports are something like:

    30% skill

    70% chance

You cannot control turnovers, injuries, coaching decisions, and something that seems to get worse & worse, officiating

Sammy is right. Many different skills needed BUT the real key is having a lot of experience using those skills. Just like Jake pointed out.. "Long-term it is a skill, Short-term it is luck." It takes time to hone those skills and be proficient. Without a doubt, I am not proficient... Yet.

Here is one example. I bet Banker (& many others... Lakerboy, etc...) can look at a Foxstat sheet on any game and make a good pick on who will win/cover/etc..., and likely hit more than they lose. If you've not studied those stat sheets it will take you time to see what is important and what is crap and likely you will lose at first (unless you have luck as Jake points out).

If sports betting (gambling) is a skill then so is playing the stock market.

Is poker a skill or a game of chance?
