1.93 isnt that precise but that is the correct formula.

Thank you. 20 points your way.
Yes, how could 107 and -108 be the same decimal?
    Both sport odds of 1.93?

they are just rounding to 2 decimals.
to find the exact decimal odds for -108 divide 1 by 1.08 and then add 1.

Wow! No wonder I have problems getting the exact payoffs.
    Thanks again.
    That seems so strange, though.

Ok, Mr Cheese whiz. this is what I get: 1 divided by 107= 0.009345. You say add 1 to that figure? Okay.
    Now I have 1.009345.

So, I assume the exact decimal is 93.45 on a dollar and the added 1 is for the carry over when you go the next parlay step?
    How's my logical thinking?

Math was basically my major.. Can't remember basic Algebra, Geometry or Calculus today.. It's like learning a language if don't use it you lose it..

It's a shame.. I hate that.. Brain is not like a computer, we do lose memory over time..

I don't know, Jib, I say it more like you stated; use it or lose it.
If you quit using your once solid math skills, it's like most things, even those big biceps we had at one time, they will disappear.

And today, nothing seems simple anymore. Too many robots instructing and less humans. Love those 25 minute bank calls I have to make once a month, where the robot [I hate that sob] puts you on hold for 20 to 30 minutes.

I hope that's not true when it applies to the ladies. I've decided to stop banging chicks and just saving it for that one and special soul mate.. I'm dying a slow death over here buddy..

Being a devote Christian in that department isn't easy.. I'm trying though.. Hoping God will still bless me one day with that one and only.. Keeping the faith bud.. Getting up in age and stiffies in the morning don't come as frequent as they use to.. ..

    you divide 1 by 1.07 not 107.

    1/1.07 = 0.9345794392523364485981308411215‬ + 1 = 1.9345794392523364485981308411215‬

    so if you bet $20:

    $20 x 1.9345794392523364485981308411215‬ = $38.69158878504672897196261682243‬

then multiply $38.69158878504672897196261682243‬ by 1.9345794392523364485981308411215‬ for the second leg of the parlay if it is also -107 and so on.

the final number will be the total you will be paid so it includes your initial $20 that you will get back.

    No.

-108 actually equals 1.9259 (SBR Odds Converter)

so you need to multiply 1.9259 instead of 1.93 to get an exact figure.

If a books back end is based on decimal odds, the US Odds display option will not be exactly right. But when they calculate the parlays for you, they will use the backend default, usually decimal based.

I am starting to see where you are getting concerned about being given correct odds now.

Most of the time the difference you are seeing is this conversion issue where US odds do not accurately represent the decimal they are calculated from.

OPT, I was a little dizzy today.
I meant to say -1.07 and the other parlay number being -1.08.
So thanks to the cheese whiz, my math looks right.

However, I may have made a mistake because the parlay using -1.07 misses the Books figure by at least $50 or more?
Probably my mistake but I am too lazy to do the math tonight.

But you can bet I will figure that -1.07- 5-teamer tomorrow.
    Stay tuned.
    Thanks for your input.

Cheese Whiz, your math is downright frightening. I did have those same figures, though.
If you want to PM me tomorrow I will let you figure one of my parlays, just for some backup.
    Night all.

if you bet $50 originally then a reason it may be off by $50 is because the 'to win' amount will not include the initial $50 bet. the formula you are using now does include the original bet though.

Well Jib, at least your sex life has matured into some thoughtful discriminating. That usually comes with maturity.
Me? Women have always driven me crazy [sooner or later]. Almost as crazy as they were.

Seems there is always a "catch?" And I am about tuckered out.
Besides, sex, to really be enjoyed, must lie between the ears first. If it's not seen with that needy emotion, it's just not worth it to me.

Sure, a different viewpoint today and not my viewpoint 25 years ago.
Like I said, we all mature to making better selections later in life, or the other option, simply lose interest.
