    Sports Betting Books to Read?

Are there any good books out there that any of you would recommend regarding sports betting?

I’m trying to get my way around Good Teams Win, Great Teams Cover, but wanted to see if there were any other good ones out there.

'Free Money' by Declan Lynch is a very entertaining read.

You won't learn anything useful about strategy etc but you'll definitely recognise some of the mistakes we tend to repeat over and over again. Not to mention the lies we tell ourselves.

More of a 'How Not To' book than anything else but well worth a read.

Dont overthink it, the average person doesnt have the slighest clue what constitutes statistical significance or have access to the programs to run meaningful sims. Youre better off understanding select teams or conferences very well.

Reading without application isnt worth much, not being disrespectful to anyone. No clue how any of you bet. But it kills me when people look for books to read or talk about how theyve read certain things and retained and applied nothing.

I agree. But, I also believe someone new has to start somewhere to learn the basics, build a foundation.

Got to disagree with you on this one JJ. I've learned more about what NOT TO DO from reading books than what I SHOULD DO while betting.

I would agree with you on one point though.... Anyone publishing a book about a new system that is "successful" is full of it. They're just selling books w/ BS.

My all time favorite (and one 100% recommended for beginners) is Stanford Wong’s Sharp Sports Betting. It’s still a classic book for serious sports betting. The math portions are very well written and easy to understand. Some of the content is outdated, but for the most part, it's still a very useful book.

Another one I truly got a lot of info out of, is Matthew Hilger’s The Poker Mindset. Not directly related to sports betting, but the mindset aspects discussed in the book (such as focusing on long term performance rather than short term results), are relevant for sports betting as well.

I after those you want to find more, I recommend you checking amazon reviews. Do a search like "betting books" or something like that:

    https://www.amazon.com/s?k=betting+b...f=nb_sb_noss_2

Also check these couple of links, those sites list breakdown of what those books are about and mention a few more books on the topic

    https://www.gamblingsitesonline.org/...ports-betting/

what's the difference between those seidel books? same subject. one is huge. the other quite small.

a couple that haven't been mentioned,

Chad Millman. name escapes me but he follows 3 people through vegas sports bettting. one was alan boston... great book

probably more than one book but any book about the Donaghy (name?), the nba referee who was fixing games..... the actions of his partner-in-crime, who was basically a load (his sole role trying to get as much money down on x game as possible), were fascinating.

not sure it's exactly in the same vein, but Wizard of Odds about disgraced NBA player Jack Molina (Molinas?) was a very entertaining read. kinda old on the gambling though. but alot of gambling. getting $500k down on a Dayton basketball game in the late 50's LOL

i agree that Stanford Wong is the gold standard.

i see Ed Miller has written a sports betting book....... he's a little too self-congratulatory for my liking. and he'll probably try to stretch it into a 10 book series, meaning the first book will be real basics that we mostly know.
