What resource tools do you use when handicapping?

My passion is MLB and I constantly find myself using Baseball Prospectus, Fangraphs, and Baseball Reference. Not to mention I’m always finding myself poking around Rotowire for all sports and Numberfire is extremely interesting too.

For NFL info you’re doing yourself an injustice if you don’t use Pro Focus.

I know some of you like to use the dartboard as a research tool too.

Nothing beats experience in analyzing odds and knowing teams talent level based on what you see on the field. Oddsmakers and bookmakers pay people to be smarter than gamblers. They know what we know and much more. So odds and history of openers and movement is key knowledge along with current talent for any particular school matchup esp conference play.

This is sharp. Books will tell us everything we need to know, we just have to figure out how to listen.

Wind direction and laws of physics apply to a lot of sport outcomes.

I’m studying this currently and should apply it to my system.

Like to read previews and watch sports pregames. See where they are making a square take. Check sbr odds and see where the percentages are. If they are going with the squares I go against. My fav is when public one way and the reporting is the other. Take the other. Just my opinion

Last night I actually watched the coaches tape for these two teams and read the local beat writers to get a sense of how the teams are doing. I think local knowledge and perception is a way to get an angle that the national coverage/narrative doesn't always reflect.

Also something I noticed and it is included in my system:

If a coach is smiling pregame and joking around with the media, his team will lose and not cover the handicap.

    And

If players are being charged for rape or murder, his teammates play tougher. So best to read the newspaper and ESPN, CNN reports.

I like to look at things like that too. It seems like they are trying to make the squares take the wrong side.
