NFL Player News - Week 2

NE - WR Antonio Brown Accused Of Rape In Lawsuit

    Source: ESPN

    From ESPN:

"Antonio Brown has been accused of sexually assaulting his former trainer, according to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in the Southern District of Florida.

"In May 2018, after a night out at a Miami-area club, Taylor says she went back to Brown's home in Miami to use the bathroom and grab some food when the receiver "forced her down onto a bed, pushed her face into the mattress, and forcibly raped her."

"Brown's lawyer, Darren Heitner, said in a statement Tuesday night that the receiver and Taylor were involved in a "consensual personal relationship. Any sexual interaction with Mr. Brown was entirely consensual."

This is obviously a serious and ugly situation and the league will be looking into this closely.

OAK - Coach heaps praise on TE Darren Waller

Source: Las Vegas Review Journal - Myles Simmons

Oakland Raiders TE Darren Waller played all 55 of the team's offensive snaps in Week 1 against Denver Broncos. Head coach Jon Gruden suggested Waller's role didn't necessarily grow because Antonio Brown wasn't there anymore.'We're going to get the ball to Waller. Waller's special,' Gruden told Myles Simmons of the Las Vegas Review Journal.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Waller had a good game against the Broncos on Monday night. Part of that is his natural skill set and part of that is the Broncos inability to cover tight ends. Waller is a TE2 with upside for Fantasy GMs, and it will be interesting to see if he can stay healthy and play up to his potential.

NYJ - NY Jets trade pick for WR Demaryius Thomas

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots WR Demaryius Thomas was traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2021 sixth-round draft pick on Tuesday, Sept. 10, according to sources.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas is reunited with Adam Gase after this move. It will be interesting to see how he fits on the depth chart with his new team. Robby Anderson is the No. 1 receiver and Jamison Crowder can get a ton of work. Perhaps Thomas, if healthy, can work his way into the No. 3 spot in the pecking order at the position.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen expects to play in Week 2

Source: The Associated Press - Steve Reed

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (back) told reporters Tuesday, Sept. 10, that he 'plans' to play in Week 2 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after getting 'jacked up' in the season opener versus the Los Angeles Rams.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

No worries here. The Panthers have given Olsen a bit of a break on a short week but he was good to go in the opener and showed no setbacks. Olsen can produce like a low-end TE1 for Fantasy GMs in Week 2 against the Buccaneers.

PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster provides optimism

Source: NFL Network - James Palmer

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) has given the team optimism for his Week 2 status, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Steelers offense needs Smith-Schuster in a bad way. The toe injury is considered minor, so we'll wait for his practice status during the week.

DET - Coach reaffirms trust in QB Matthew Stafford

Source: The Associated Press - Matt Schoch

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford has the full trust of his coaching staff after television cameras caught him appearing to say 'trust me' after a timeout was called by the sideline with the play clock winding down ahead of a third-and-5 play in the fourth quarter of Sunday's tie against the Arizona Cardinals. 'To sum it up, like 1,000 percent,' head coach Matt Patricia said Monday, Sept. 9, when asked about his trust level with Stafford. 'Everyone knows how much I think of, how highly I think of him and trust him. There's no issue.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Lions let that game get away, mostly on defense when the Cardinals offense came to life. Stafford is a seasoned veteran who should trust his coach and vice versa.

CAR - QB Cam Newton can throw deep ball when he needs to

    Source: Panthers.com - Bill Voth

Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton assured reporters Tuesday, Sept. 10, he'll be able to throw the deep ball whenever it's required. 'If it's going to hinder us from winning, I don't want to throw it. But if it's going to make us win, 'Oh, baby,' you better throw some doggone deep balls,' Newton said while impersonating offensive coordinator Norv Turner.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It takes some time getting used to Newton's new throwing motion because it's more compact and different than he used to throw. Newton underwent arthroscopic surgery on his throwing shoulder in the offseason and has changed his motion in an effort to minimize the torque on the joint.

HOU - WR Kenny Stills earning bigger role

Source: Houston Chronicle - Aaron Wilson

Houston Texans WR Kenny Stills was limited to 27 of the team's 64 snaps in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints, primarily because he was acquired so late in the preseason, according to comments made by head coach Bill O'Brien.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

According to the Houston Chronicle's Aaron Wilson, the Texans plan to expand his role as he learns more of the playbook. That makes sense. It also makes sense because Keke Coutee can't stay healthy. Stills has some 'what the heck' flex upside at least in this passing game.

TB - RB Peyton Barber remains starter for now

Source: The Athletic - Greg Auman

Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Peyton Barber will get the start again in Week 2 over Ronald Jones, although head coach Bruce Arians suggested he will go with the 'hot hand' after Jones gets a chance to mix in.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barber was the lead back in Week 1 against the 49ers, even though Ronald Jones was the more exciting back. We'll see if Jones can continue to make plays as a reserve runner and earn a larger role, perhaps even replacing Barber as the starter. In the meantime, Jones is a flex play with upside against the Panthers on Thursday night.

i probably wouldn't drop him unless you don't have many bench spots.

    Thursday Update

LAC - TE Hunter Henry out 4-6 weeks?

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

Updating a previous report, Los Angeles Chargers TE Hunter Henry (knee) is expected to be sidelined for four to six weeks because of his knee injury, according to a source.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chargers should add talent to the tight end room with this injury. Henry is talented but he is as oft-injured as they get. Virgil Green is their top tight end for now.

NE - WR Antonio Brown practicing

    Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter

New England Patriots WR Antonio Brown is practicing Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown has now been accused of rape, so his status is uncertain at this time. Head coach Bill Belichick said they'll take it 'one day at a time,' in terms of whether Brown suits up in Week 2.

KC - QB Patrick Mahomes on injury report

    Source: Chiefs.com

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Jaguars beat up Mahomes but he stayed in there Week 1. The team will monitor him closely but a full practice on Wednesday is a great sign that the superstar quarterback is doing fine.

NYJ - WR Quincy Enunwa out for season

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (neck) will miss the remainder of the season with a neck injury suffered in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Another neck injury for the veteran receiver, and this one could be a career-ending injury. This is the second major neck injury he has suffered in his career, and it may be time for him to move on to life after football.

KC - WR Tyreek Hill out four to six weeks

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Updating previous reports, Kansas City Chiefs WR Tyreek Hill (shoulder) will miss four to six weeks, and he will not be placed on the Reserve/Injured list.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Chiefs will be cautious with Hill as he returns from this injury. His rehab will be monitored, and how quickly Hill progresses will determine if it's more or less than six weeks. In the meantime, Sammy Watkins is their No. 1 receiver and a guy like rookie Mecole Hardman will get a larger role while Hill misses time.

LAC - No practice for WR Mike Williams

    Source: Chargers.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It seems like Williams may be very questionable for Week 2. With Hunter Henry out for a few weeks, this offense just can't catch a break. Let's see if Williams can get a limited practice in later this week.

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold too sick to practice

Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Michael David Smith

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) was told not to come to practice Wednesday, Sept. 11, due to an illness but is expected to play Monday, Sept. 16.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see what Darnold can do later in the week. The Jets play on Monday night, so his Saturday status is the most important. Stay tuned.

WAS - RB Adrian Peterson to receive start

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Washington Redskins RB Adrian Peterson will be the starting running back in Week 2 with RB Derrius Guice (knee) sidelined, according to head coach Jay Gruden.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Peterson was a healthy scratch in Week 1 for the first time in his career. Now, he's the lead back due to Guice's injury. Peterson will be the battering ram for the offense while Chris Thompson will work as the change-of-pace back.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon missing practice

    Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) is not participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon is listed as day-to-day with this ankle injury. We should see him limited in practice, so make sure he's practicing ...even if he's limited... on Friday.

CIN - WR A.J. Green making progress

    Source: ESPN.com - Ben Baby

Cincinnati Bengals WR A.J. Green (ankle) is no longer wearing a walking boot and was able to do some running without any problems Tuesday, Sept. 10. He said there is still no timetable for his return.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Green might miss another month or so, nobody really knows at this time. Getting out of the walking boot is progress and a good sign but we're not in the clear yet.

SEA - WR Tyler Lockett does not practice

    Source: Seahawks.com

Seattle Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We wanted Lockett to be more involved in Week 1. He only had two targets but at least his only catch went for a touchdown. Let's watch this back injury during the week of practice.

    12. PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster limited

    Source: Steelers.com

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (toe) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The toe injury appears to be minor for Smith-Schuster. We'll see if he can practice fully later in the week.

CHI - TE Trey Burton limited

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

If Burton plays against the Broncos in Week 2, then he's got TE1 upside...partly because of his talent but also because Denver struggles to cover tight ends and has for years. We'll see if Burton can get a full practice in on Friday.

HOU - WR Keke Coutee takes part in practice

    Source: HoustonTexans.com

Houston Texans WR Keke Coutee (ankle) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll see if Coutee can keep this up during the week. His speed and playmaking ability would help the Texans offense but it would cramp things for guys like Kenny Stills.

SEA - TE Will Dissly good to go for Week 2

    Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle

Seattle Seahawks TE Will Dissly (knee) is good to go for Week 2, according to head coach Pete Carroll Wednesday, Sept 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

On Monday, Carroll revealed that Dissly had suffered a setback from the knee injury that cost him most of 2018. On Wednesday, Dissly is good to go. Alright, that's good news but Fantasy GMs have plenty of other options besides Dissly in Week 2.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed participates in drills

    Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) participated in team drills Wednesday, Sept 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed is getting close to a return. Vernon Davis is the top tight end now, but when Reed is out there we could see a TEBC.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard out of practice

Source: New York Daily News - Pat Leonard

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) is working to the side Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shepard will need to work his way through the concussion protocol. We'll have an update on his status later in the week.

CAR - TE Greg Olsen questionable

    Source: Panthers.com - Max Henson

Carolina Panthers TE Greg Olsen (back) is listed as questionable for Week 2. He was a full participant in practice Wednesday, Sept. 11.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Olsen got a rest day on both Monday and Tuesday. He was good to go in the season opener against the Rams and showed no setbacks. Olsen provides low-end TE1 potential for Fantasy GMs this week against the Buccaneers on Thursday night.

The #Jets have a bye in Week 4, which now seems fortunate. Coach Adam Gase indicated QB SamDarnold could miss multiple weeks, leaving Week 5 against the #Eagles as a possible return date.

    Friday Update

NYJ - QB Sam Darnold likely out multiple weeks

Source: David Chao - San Diego Union Tribune

New York Jets QB Sam Darnold (illness) could be sidelined until October as he deals with mononucleosis, in the opinion of one injury expert.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It certainly looks like a multi-week issue and one that could doom the Jets to a poor enough start that their season is over in October.

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell avoids shoulder damage

    Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler

Updating a previous report, New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell (shoulder) underwent a 'mostly precautionary' MRI on Thursday, Sept. 12, which revealed no major damage or tears in his shoulder, according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Bell's shoulder won't get healthier as the season goes on, and he just lost his starting quaarterback. His volume will make him viable, especially in PPR leagues, but don't expect many ceiling games out of him.

WAS - RB Derrius Guice undergoes surgery

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

Washington Redskins RB Derrius Guice (knee) had surgery Thursday, Sept. 12, to trim a torn meniscus in his knee, according to sources. Guice is out indefinitely.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Guice is out at least four weeks, but possibly as many as eight. The Washington running game wasn't something we wanted to rely on in fantasy leagues anyway, so he's droppable in short bench leagues, and maybe in typical leagues.

NYJ - QB Trevor Siemian gets Week 2 start

    Source: NewYorkJets.com - Eric Allen

New York Jets QB Trevor Siemian will start in Week 2 on Monday, Sept. 16, with QB Sam Darnold (illiness) out. 'We signed Trevor specifically because of his 24 starts, with a winning record,' Jets head coach Adam Gase said Thursday, Sept. 12. 'He has a lot of experience, been on winning ball clubs, he has the respect of the locker room. The reaction I got from the guys is, 'Let's go.' '

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Siemian should feed Jamison Crowder in the horizontal passing game and he is safe with the ball, so the Browns defense might not be the slam dunk they appear to be. This is bad for the Jets offense, but there are worse backups playing in the NFL.

NYJ - WR Demaryius Thomas ailing

Source: New York Post - Brian Costello

New York Jets WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) is dealing with a hamstring injury, and the team hopes he can practice Saturday, Sept. 14.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It shouldn't take Thomas too long to get up to speed in the offense since he played under Adam Gase in Denver and he caught passes from Trevor Siemian. Gase said that Thomas could play in Week 2 without practicing.

GB - TE Jimmy Graham still limited

    Source: Packers.com

Green Bay Packers TE Jimmy Graham (finger) remained limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Graham is a low ceiling play, but if Aaron Rodgers continues to trust him on end zone jumpballs, he'll remain a TE1 going forward.

BAL - WR Marquise Brown remains limited

    Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley

Baltimore Ravens WR Marquise Brown (hip) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Let's make sure Brown is good to go for Sunday before starting him. He was very limited in his usage Week 1 and the team could ease him in this week once again to make sure he doesn't go down again. Miles Boykin would be a good start if Brown can't go vs. Arizona.

NYJ - WR Robby Anderson appears on injury report

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson (calf) was listed as a full participant in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Anderson is still a very dicey play in Week 2 with Trevor Siemian at quarterback and Denzel Ward facing him most, if not all of the time.

CLE - Dontrell Hilliard doesn't practice Thursday

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns RB Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) didn't practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Unless Hilliard gets cleared D'Ernest Johnson will be the backup to Nick Chubb on the big Monday night stage vs. the Jets.

CLE - WR Rashard Higgins limited Thursday

Source: The Chronicle-Telegram - Scott Petrak

Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins (knee) was limited in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Higgins got off to a hot start and then left the game with an ankle injury. He says he's playing on Monday night, although he's not a safe start in deep leagues until we know he's out of the woods on this ankle issue.

CHI - TE Trey Burton limited again

    Source: ChicagoBears.com

Chicago Bears TE Trey Burton (groin) was limited during practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Burton says he has good and bad days with this new injury. He is sorely needed by this offense and he could be a good play against the Broncos, who struggle against good tight ends, but this is setting up to be another game time decision. Adam Shaheen would get more snaps and Ben Braunecker would take his place in the lineup if Burton can't go.

DAL - WR Amari Cooper takes part in practice

    Source: DallasCowboys.com

Dallas Cowboys WR Amari Cooper (foot) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Cooper's preseason injury worries are behind us (for now) and his offense is firing on all cylinders. He'll see a lot of Josh Norman on Sunday but should still be in lineups.

LAC - WR Mike Williams unable to go Thursday

Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) did not participate in practice for a second straight day Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

It is not looking good for Williams this week. Travis Benjamin would start in his place and Dontrelle Inman would get snaps in three wide sets if Williams can't go on Sunday at Detroit.

Houston Texans WR Keke Coutee (ankle) fully participated in practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Coutee should return this week, complicating a Texans wide receiver picture that has four players who are NFL starting level. It's not good for fantasy projections, but great for Deshaun Watson if he can stay on the field. Coutee is only a what the heck flex vs. Jacksonville.

CIN - RB Joe Mixon remains out

Source: The Cincinnati Enquirer - Tyler Dragon

Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon (ankle) missed a second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 12, as he deals with an ankle injury suffered in Week 1.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mixon may not go this week, and even if he does, he may not be at full speed. If he's out, then Giovani Bernard becomes a solid RB2, and even if Mixon is in, Bernard deserves some flex consideration vs. the 49ers after the Bucs running game got on track against them in the opener.

CIN - TE Tyler Eifert back at practice

Source: The Athletic - Jay Morrison

Cincinnati Bengals TE Tyler Eifert (non-injury) returned to practice Thursday, Sept. 12, after receiving a rest day the previous day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Eifert led the Bengals tight ends in catches, but not snaps in Week 1. He's only a desperation play, but the Bengals are passing enough to make him worth a look if you just lost Hunter Henry.

WAS - TE Jordan Reed practicing again

Source: The Washington Post - Les Carpenter

Washington Redskins TE Jordan Reed (concussion) is participating in his second straight day of practice Thursday, Sept. 12.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Reed still isn't cleared and it's fair to wonder how long he'll stay on the field when he is. He'll be a what the heck tight end play if he can go on Sunday vs. Dallas.

NYG - WR Sterling Shepard working through protocol

Source: The Athletic - Dan Duggan

New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (concussion) was out of practice working on the side Thursday, Sept. 12, for the second straight day.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Shepard isn't a sure thing for Sunday and Cody Latimer is also banged up. It will be the Barkley and Engram show in the passing game for the Giants unless something changes before kickoff.

    Chargers | Mike Williams a game-time decision

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) will be a game-time decision for the Week 2 game, according to head coach Anthony Lynn.

Chargers | Melvin Gordon to return at some point

Los Angeles Chargers RB Melvin Gordon does not believe the team will trade him and will continue to hold out to 'protect himself,' but he will report to the team in 2019, according to a source via ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. 'This is not a Le'Veon Bell situation. He still wants to be a Charger. But he's got to protect himself,' the source told Fowler.

Footballguys view: He should be back sometime in November at the latest, but it's not a sure thing that he will come back to the role he had last year. If you drafted him you probably need to hold him for now.

Chargers | Week 2 injury report for Chargers

Los Angeles Chargers CB Mike A. Davis (hamstring) did not participate in practice Friday, Sept. 13, and is listed as doubtful for Week 2. S Roderic Teamer (hamstring), PK Mike Badgley (groin), LB Jatavis Brown (ankle) and LB Denzel Perryman (ankle) were limited during practice and are listed as questionable. DE Isaac Rochell (concussion) and WR Geremy Davis (hamstring) fully participated in practice but are listed as questionable.

I was liking the Chargers earlier in the week but have a bad feeling about it now. The key injuries are piling up and I fear that Rivers will be under fire against a pretty decent Detroit Dline.

    Sunday Update

NYJ - Le'Veon Bell listed as questionable

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets RB Le'Veon Bell (shoulder) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Things seem to be trending in the direction of Bell playing on Monday night. Against the Browns defense, Bell should post RB1 numbers for Fantasy GMs...even with Trevor Siemian starting at quarterback.

DAL - RB Ezekiel Elliott seeks more touches

Source: The Associated Press - Schuyler Dixon

Dallas Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott says he's ready for a larger workload after logging 13 rushing attempts for 53 yards and catching one pass for 10 yards in the team's Week 1 win over the New York Giants. 'I think I'm ready now for a normal workload,' Elliott said Wednesday, Sept. 11. 'It just depends on how ... (the coaches) are feeling on Sunday. But if they ask, I'll be able to go out there and do it.'

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The Cowboys were managing Elliott's touches after a lengthy holdout. With that first game out of the way, it's time to start using him as the centerpiece of the offense. We're excited about what Kellen Moore is bringing to the table as the OC of the Cowboys and obviously Elliott is a top RB1 for Fantasy GMs.

NE - RB James White makes trip

Source: Boston Herald - Kevin Duffy

New England Patriots RB James White made the trip Saturday, Sept. 14, to Miami for the team's Week 2 game against the Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

There was some speculation that White may miss the game with his wife expecting. Instead, looks like White is going to be there for the game. He's always got flex appeal in PPR leagues, especially in what should be a very one-sided matchup on Sunday.

CLE - Questionable tag for WR Rashard Higgins

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Rashard Higgins (knee) was limited during practice Saturday, Sept. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Higgins wants to go but the team might decide to severely limit his snaps or just shut him down for Monday night. They've got plenty of weapons in the passing game if Higgins has to miss Week 2.

CLE - Dontrell Hilliard to miss game

Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich

Cleveland Browns RB Dontrell Hilliard (concussion) didn't practice Saturday, Sept. 14, and was ruled out of the team's Week 2 game Monday, Sept. 16, against the New York Jets.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

This could mean more work for Nick Chubb, specifically when it comes to passing downs. The Browns are looking to bounce back on Monday night against the Jets after getting embarrassed against the Titans in Week 1. Without Hilliard, D'Ernest Johnson could get some playing time.

SF - Jeffery Wilson joins active roster

    Source: 49ers.com

San Francisco 49ers practice squad RB Jeffery Wilson was signed to the 53-man roster Saturday, Sept. 14. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. The team also waived TE Kaden Smith.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

The 49ers had to get more depth at the running back position with Tevin Coleman (ankle) banged up. Wilson could work into the mix behind Matt Breida and Raheem Mostert.

NYJ - WR Robby Anderson should play

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets WR Robby Anderson (calf) fully participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We're in wait-and-see mode with the Jets offense now that Trevor Siemian is the quarterback. He was known to check down a lot when he was the starter with the Broncos. We'll see what kind of chemistry Siemian has with Anderson and the rest of the weapons on the Jets offense. Anderson should be considered a WR4 in Monday night's game against the Browns.

NYJ - WR Demaryius Thomas questionable

    Source: NewYorkJets.com

New York Jets WR Demaryius Thomas (hamstring) did not participate in practice Saturday, Sept. 14, and is listed as questionable for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Thomas did not get any practice time in during the week, so even if he does play no Fantasy GMs out there should be turning to the veteran receiver in Week 2.

CLE - WR Odell Beckham ready to play

    Source: ClevelandBrowns.com

Cleveland Browns WR Odell Beckham Jr. (hip) fully participated in practice Saturday, Sept. 14, and is not on the injury report for Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Beckham is good to go, so get him in your lineup. He is a WR1 for Fantasy GMs on Monday night against the Jets.

NE - RB Brandon Bolden to miss Week 2

    Source: Patriots.com

RB Brandon Bolden (hamstring) on Saturday, Sept. 15, was downgraded to out for the team's Week's 2 game against the Miami Dolphins.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

He was limited all week due to this hamstring injury. With Bolden out, we might see rookie Damien Harris be on the active roster for the game against the Dolphins.

SEA - WR David Moore could return for Week 3

Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero

Seattle Seahawks WR David Moore (shoulder) could return for Week 3's game against the New Orleans Saints, according to head coach Pete Carroll.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

We'll continue to monitor Moore in dynasty formats. He was already ruled out for Week 2 versus the Pittsburgh Steelers despite having a good week of practice.

    Monday Update

NO - QB Drew Brees leaves with thumb injury

Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport

New Orleans Saints QB Drew Brees (thumb) was removed from the Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter due to a thumb injury. QB Teddy Bridgewater replaced him.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brees status for next week against the Seahawks is no sure thing, and he is seeing a hand specialist out of concern. Injured reserve is possible. A Saints offense that already wants to skew conservative when possible will go into a shell without Brees. This is terrible news for Alvin Kamara, not great for Michael Thomas, and may make Jared Cook and Latavius Murray droppable. Stay tuned on this one.

PIT - QB Ben Roethlisberger leaves early

    Source: Steelers.com - Burt Lauten

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (elbow) suffered a right elbow injury during the Week 2 game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Mason Rudolph is in and Roethlisberger should be considered questionable at best for next week's game at San Francisco.

MIA - RB Kenyan Drake on trade block?

Source: FOX Sports - Jay Glazer

Miami Dolphins RB Kenyan Drake has been the subject of trade talks with other teams this week.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Drake can help a lot of running back depth charts, but there aren't any lead back openings right now. His value can only be helped by a departure from Miami.

NYG - TE Evan Engram catches six passes

    Source: NFL.com

New York Giants TE Evan Engram caught six passes for 48 yards against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. He was targeted eight times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Engram was able to break through during garbage time for a few gains but was a nonfactor while the game was in the balance. Next week, he'll face a Tampa defense that Greg Olsen lit up on Thursday.

NYG - RB Saquon Barkley one bright spot for NYG

    Source: NFL.com

New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. He also caught three passes for 28 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Barkley had 55 yards and a score on the opening drive and was quiet for the rest of the game. He's returning value on his top three price tag but it's not going to be pretty.

BUF - Seven catches for WR John Brown

    Source: NFL.com

Buffalo Bills WR John Brown caught seven passes for 72 yards against the New York Giants in Week 2. He was targeted eight times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Brown didn't have any big plays but was the most dependable target and provided a high PPR floor in this one. He's a WR2 or WR3/flex at worst against the Bengals next week.

BUF - Rushing touchdown for RB Devin Singletary

    Source: NFL.com

Buffalo Bills RB Devin Singletary rushed for 57 yards and one touchdown on six carries against the New York Giants in Week 2.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Singletary wasn't involved in the passing game, but still bailed out anyone who started him with a touchdown run. He was productive on his touches and should take over this backfield eventually, but a hamstring injury will probably sideline him for at least next week. The Bills bye is in Week 6 so Week 7 could be the next time we see Singletary if this wasn't mild.

DET - TE T.J. Hockenson held to one catch

    Source: NFL.com

Detroit Lions TE T.J. Hockenson caught one pass for seven yards against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2. He was targeted three times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Hockenson's big Week 1 appears to be more the Cardinals defense (which gave up a huge game to Mark Andrews) than Hockenson being on a rare rookie trajectory. He'll still be a solid TE1 play against the Eagles next week, but his weekly floor is in clear view now.

DET - WR Kenny Golladay surpasses 100-yard mark

    Source: NFL.com

Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay caught eight passes for 117 yards and one touchdown against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2. He was targeted 10 times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Golladay was targeted on one of the best interceptions of Casey Hayward's career, but had the last laugh and accounted for the game-winning score in this one. He's a solid WR2 against the Eagles next week.

DET - RB Kerryon Johnson has solid game

    Source: NFL.com

Detroit Lions RB Kerryon Johnson rushed for 41 yards on 12 carries against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 2. He also caught two passes for 47 yards and one touchdown during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Johnson's day was saved by a 36-yard catch and run touchdown, but it was a still a day that saw him cede more work to other backs than most lead backs and the Lions struggled to establish the run against a Chargers team that Marlon Mack ran all over last week. He'll be an acceptable RB2 against the Eagles next week.

LAC - WR Mike Williams plays well

    Source: NFL.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams caught three passes for 83 yards against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. He was targeted five times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Williams should play more next week and he made a couple of big plays downfield to help the struggling Chargers offense. He could bounce back next week if he is feeling good. We'll watch his practice status.

LAC - Eight receptions for WR Keenan Allen

    Source: NFL.com

Los Angeles Chargers WR Keenan Allen caught eight passes for 98 yards against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. He was targeted 15 times during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Allen is going to get a steady dose of targets every week and has delivered his promised low end WR1 in PPR leagues value. He'll face the beatable Houston secondary next week.

LAC - RB Austin Ekeler involved in run, pass game

    Source: NFL.com

Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler rushed for 66 yards and one touchdown on 17 carries against the Detroit Lions in Week 2. He also caught six passes for 67 yards during the game.

    [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ]

Ekeler is an elite RB1 right now with maximum passing game involvement and red zone usage. He had another score called back or his Week 2 would have been even bigger.
