    Royals Red Sox last night

What are the books doing about this game? Are they giving refunds, or are they keeping the money until the game is completed on the 22nd?

I have a total of $1290 hanging on that game on the +1.5 line. ($500 to win $790) It's a little annoying to not get that money for 2 weeks, especially since I was almost certain to win. (Boston was at home so they would need a multi run homer in order to cover.)

Nope, your bet should be cancelled. Unfortunately I was in the same boat as I also had KC+1.5 live betting and BOS-330, a stupid idiotic bet I made earlier in the day.

Both bets became NO ACTION. Although the runline bet should stand as 9 innings were completed but the effen mofos at my sportsbook cancelled the bet. The bet was small so I didn't say anything and it's not a big deal so I'm just going to move on and forget it.

Funny. I came in here looking to see if this happened to anyone else. I had the Red Sox -1.5 and 5D graded as a loss. They cited this rule, and it is the only rule they have printed out.

All regular season and exhibition baseball games are considered official after 5 innings of play (4½ if the home team is winning). If a game is called or suspended after 5 innings, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning of play – unless the home team scores to tie or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in that case, the winner is then determined by the score at the time the game is called. When betting on baseball totals or run-lines, the game must go 9 innings or 8½ if the home team is winning.

I have been betting 30 years and this just doesn't sit right. I think it should cancelled.

on 5D -- Live Run Lines need the game to be resumed within 72 hours -- and this game will be resumed on the 22nd. That could be why it was NO ACTION. I understand that you didn't specify whether or not it was 5D.

I made the bet at bookmaker.eu. As mentioned the bet was for a small amount so I didn't even bother complaining.

It happened to me as well, and 5Dimes quoted the same rules. However, 5Dimes rules also say: "If an event is suspended/abandoned, postponed and/or rescheduled, that event will automatically become NO ACTION." Customer service claims that the rule they are quoting is baseball specific and supersedes the general rule that suspended games become no action. I don't see why the baseball rule they are quoting would in any way modify the general statement that postponed games automatically become no action. 5Dimes' interpretation of the rules does not make any sense whatsoever. Perhaps they had heavy action on the Red Sox runline and this creative interpretation of the rules benefits them?

Game is graded as 4-4 Final, all bets stand because game went 9 innings. So +1.5 is a winner.

No, all bets stand because game was suspended in extra inning, therefore went at least 9 innings. This is different from other cases where games are suspended before 9 innings, in which case Totals and Run Lines would have been refunds.

This does not square with the 5Dimes rule that suspended games become no action or with the fact that other books with similar rules are grading this game no action.

It's really not stated in the rules though. Also had KC -1.5 graded as a loss.

    • When betting on totals and/or run-lines the game must go nine innings (eight and a half if the home team is winning). Extra innings are included in the final totals. Listed pitchers must start the game. In case of disputes the ruling made by "The Mirage" sports book in Las Vegas will apply.

All this means is if the game is stopped prior to completing nine, wagers are void. In this case game the game did go 9 innings, but it is not completed.

Hard to live with when the rules so clearly imply that the wager should be graded differently than 5Dimes is grading it. ... See how the handle suspended games on their rules page: https://www.5dimes.eu/sb_rules.html. There is no room for ambiguity here. The rule is as straightforward as it could be: Suspended games are graded no action. ... Would be easy to live with if the rules were consistent with the way they are grading the wager.

What I quoted is the Vegas Standard, and most USA-facing offshores revert to the Vegas Standard. If anyone graded it differently, they must have special house rules.

Because it is not often that games are suspended after 9 innings have been played, this was a rare case. There is nothing wrong, once 9 innings are played, run lines and totals count, 5 Dimes graded it correctly.

Right, there is no room for ambiguity and 5 Dimes graded correctly per their rules.

On that page you posted, click on Baseball and the rule is in the very first full paragraph.

    Baseball Wagering
Baseball game moneyline and first 5 inning wagers have the following pitcher options:

Listed Pitchers Both listed pitchers must start for moneyline wagers to have action. A pitcher only needs to throw one pitch to be the official starter for wagering purposes. Listed Pitchers wagers will be graded no action if either or both pitchers do not start the game. All baseball total and run-line wagers are listed pitchers only.
List One Pitcher: The pitcher you specify must start for moneyline wagers to have action. You have no action if your specified pitcher does not start the game. If the pitcher opposing your selected pitcher is changed, the moneyline price will be computed with revised odds based on the new pitcher.
Action: All moneyline wagers have action. However, if there is a pitching change, the moneyline price will be computed with revised odds based on the new pitchers.

All regular season and exhibition baseball games are considered official after 5 innings of play (4½ if the home team is winning). When betting on baseball totals or run-lines, the game must go 9 innings or 8½ if the home team is winning. (These rules also apply to all wagers on Live Betting Extra, Sportsbetting Prime and Live Betting Ultra and Prematch Betting).

They talked about this a bunch on VSIN today ... and how a lot of books changed their rules [one because it needed a side that night] after this game:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ten_Cent_Beer_Night

Sorry I forget which book ... but they posted new rules in the middle of the night.

I had Boston ML on a 3 team parlay (Yankees, Brewers) and thought I would have to wait until it was made up but around midnight I was paid out for a 2 teamer with the Boston game listed as no bet. I use Bovada btw.

Specific sports rules supersede the general rules. It is clear from the baseball rules that totals and run lines are official once 9 innings are completed.

This is actually no different that having a 5-inning play in a game that is suspended in, say the 7th inning. Segmented plays count even though full game has No Action. Think of totals and run lines as 9-inning segmented plays whenever games go into extra innings.

Correct because game graded as 4-4 final. The tricky parts here are the run lines and totals, as those are usually refunds in suspended games. The exception is when games go into extra innings, since those bets only require 9 innings to be completed and not necessarily for the game to be finished.

What do you mean, read the very first sentence! When betting on totals and/or run-lines the game must go nine innings. This game went beyond nine innings so everything counts, It ain't that hard people.
