    DJ LeMahieu and Drew Smyly

    First DJ:
The dude just homered in the first inning, he's now 6 for 10 against his old mates this series.
He's having an MVP season solid on defense. He's hitting .334 overall .384 on base percentage and a very good .509 slugging percentage. Outstanding for a middle infielder. And to think the Rox let him go to free agency.

    Drew Smyly:
Look closely at his game log.
Now look closely at his 2019 stats.

Have you ever seen worse power numbers against for a pitcher?
    I haven't.

19 homers allowed in 51 innings pitched.
I had to look at it 5 times.
He's making his 14th appearance and has given up a homer in 11 times in his last 13.Are you kidding me?
6 out of 13 of those games he's given up multiple homers. His last game he gave up three taters, he's done that twice.

Calling him a hamburger would be modest.
Need a good laugh, here see for yourself.

No doubt, DJ changes the entire dynamics of the Yankee line up for good to great.
With DJ you get a terrific glove and a great contact hitter that drives in clutch runs, doesn't swing for the fences (like Wade Boggs) but can poke one out (like Wade Boggs) and has a very solid on base percentage (like Wade Boggs) and can swipe a bag too.
Right now DJ may be the premier 2B in the majors, the kid in Atlanta is terrific too (Albies)
Altuve has dropped off, sames as Kipnis.
Dozier can hit for pop but never could hit for average. Kipnis has dropped off too.

This could be the 2B of the future.
    Brewers wonder boy Kesston Hiura.
22 year old rookie made his debut on May 14 and hasn't stopped hitting since.
Having one of the greatest months so far I've ever seen in a while.
This is what Hiura is doing so far in July.

He has to have 5 more consecutive years like this one.
    No I don't think so.
He started his career as a part time with the Cubs, was ordinary for two years.

Then he was with Colorado for six seasons where he played well, not hall of fame well though.
Here' his six year average. That 50 percent caught stealing rate is pretty alarming. I didn't realize it was that high.

Holy Mother of God, DJ doesn't stop raking!
He just crushed a two run bomb to cut the Twins lead to 7-5. (5th inning)
No lead is safe with this NY Yankee lineup.

He laced a double to right in the third inning and walked in the first.

Holy shit, he did it again another clutch hit,
RBI single to make it 7-6 Twins. This guy is on fire,

    Tonight
    3 for 3 HR Double walk 2 RBI 1 R
Now batting .339 for the season

Mattingly in his prime was a beast. He once hit homers in 8 consecutive games tying that record.
If he doesn't hurt his backe he'd be in the Hall.
There's a running joke that Mattingly was the best fielding first baseman in the American League but he wasn't the best fielding first baseman in New York.

i know. I was born in nyc in 1975 & followed Mattingly's career closely as I was an obsessive yanks fan as a kid. Pre ailing back...never saw a player hit as many line drives as Donnie. I lived in Atlanta area for 1.5 yrs (86-87) & the day we moved back in June 87 I remember watching a Yankees/Brewers game on Sportschannel in my dads manhattan apt. I think that was the first time Mattingly hurt his back & I remember feeling ill about it. DJ (this season) & Jeter are probably the only other 2 Yankees I've seen who can even be compared to Mattingly's brilliantly consistent ability to make solid contact almost every at bat.

He makes it look easy. Can hit to all parts of the field. He just takes what the pitcher gives, and puts it in play. Not up there looking to hammer it out every time. He just wants to keep the line moving. The Yankees are gonna be dangerous in the Playoffs. No lead against them is ever safe.

I liked the Yankees until Girardii took over, can't stomach him as a manager however he's not bad as an analyst. I was following Hosmer, the other Moose, Alex Gordon and the rest all develop together on the minor league level in AAA. They were fun and I knew they would be a special unit, this was 2010-2011. I found myself watching KC's every move. I almost cried in 2014 with Gordon stranded on third base in the World Series. Mad-Bum was lights out n2015 was the greatest season of my baseball viewing life. I can take more than 20 memories of that season to my grave. Yeah, that kind of special. My wife said to me when they got Cueto "Does he put your Royals over the top? I said yes, she said those numbers are not too good. I told her don't worry KC just got him for the playoff run."
Can you say complete game 2 hit shutout? I can.
DJ could have been a perfect fit at 2B for KC in 2015 too.

Torre was my guy. Sandberg, Boggs, and Moose were my favorite players. Moose got pissed at Girardi once for telling him to walk Manny in a spot, Moose told him I can get him out. That was not very public but it was a dumpster fire in the clubhouse.

I'm a tad older than you I watched Boggs career that was the epitome of a line drive hitter. I never hit for much pop, I was a doubles line drive hitter I appreciate those guys. DJ is one of those guys, he's got Sandberg in him and Boggs in him. What's not to love?

I started watching baseball in 82 or 83 & by the 84 season I was watching every Yankees game & attending 10-20 a year so I saw Boggs in person at the stadium at least 5x & he was the epitome of a line drive hitter. Didnt like Girardi either & Boone is a more moronic move. Feel they will come up short in the post season again with such a clown as manager.

DJ went 2 for 3 last night one of those two being a homer with two walks.

He was on the DL for a week.
Got off the DL on 8/2.

Since then in six August games he's started five and pinch hit in one.
In August so far LeMahieu is 9 for 23 (.391)including that 3 for 5 effort 4 days ago with 2 HR's.
    He's struck out once in those 23 AB's 25 PA's
He's going to be the first ever to win batting titles in both leagues, currently hitting .336

It’s obvious baseball gets your dikk hard. No shame in that. I love the game too. The question is, when your pounding your significant other do you still think about baseball. I ask because it’s been said that thinking about baseball while in the act causes certain individuals to suppress ones happy endings.
