MLB trade deadline: Astros add Zack Greinke in blockbuster deal with Diamondbacks before the buzzer

Greinke had to waive his no-trade clause to head to Houston

As expected, the Houston Astros walked away from the July 31 trade deadline with some pitching, and they landed a big name. Multiple reports say the Astros have acquired Zack Greinke from the Arizona Diamondbacks. ESPN's Jeff Passan says Arizona will receive four prospects while MLB.com Mark Feinsand adds one of them is not outfielder Kyle Tucker

He has been mediocre at best in his playoff games. His last couple of outings were awful. Sure he can give Houston some innings but as a Yanks fan I'm the least bit concerned about this. Houston isn't winning jack shit.

We also upgraded at catcher by getting Maldonado back. Also got Bargiani and Aaron Sanchez from the Blue Jays. Hoping Brent Strom can work his magic with Sanchez.

If nothing else he can slot in the 5th spot and eat innings, then I’d imagine go to pen in playoffs.

By “working magic” do you mean get him on the PED program??

Dude just knows how to pitch. His stuff has absolutely diminished, not even averaging 90mph on his heater anymore but doesn’t matter cause he spots it incredibly well and has elite pitch mix. Still misses bats and still sporting a era under 3!

The good thing about that is even tho he getting a lot the next 2 years the dropoff has already occurred and you know what you getting. Let’s also not forget the Stros “magic”, they will get him on the PED program and before ya know it he be hitting 92-93 again w increased spin rates!! Lol

Greinke has an eight pitch arsenal, including that blooper pitch.
    EIGHT

Only that's off is his K ratio, but that happens with age.
Astros match up with everybody including the fancy LA Dodgers.

    Dodgers this, Dodgers that.
Everybody has them wearing the crown already for the love of God.

The Bash Brothers A's were a mortal lock, right?
Reds swept them in four straight.

What happened to the '88 A's.
    '69 Mets over the Orioles.
    '06 Cards.

My dad tells me the biggest blood bath ever was the '54 Indians with the best pitching staff ever assembled losing as a 3:1 fave.
    My '15 Royals
    Marlins over the Yanks.

    That's baseball.

I will have to sit and watch my dodgers lose another World Series and god damnit I’ll be at one of the games. Greinke would have been perfect to come back to LA .

LA needs more brown people to many white guys league ran by Hispanics. Better ball players.
