Dont know for who yet. Looks like the mets are gonna make a run for the playoffs instead of selling

I would agree with you maybe this little hot streak they are on and the next 10 games are against bad teams might have the organization thinking they can make that run

6 games out of the wild card. Not a bad move. Could be dangerous in the playoffs

If I'm the Astros, I offer Correa for Syndergaard straight up. Astros showed they can play without him. Correa is going to free agency when his time is up in 2021 anyway. Luhnow keeps his precious prospects, and has Cole's replacement next year.

Why would the mets do that?

They've said they want to trade Thor for someone who can help right away. You have a big bat in the middle of the lineup for the next 2 1/2 seasons.

And you dont think we can do better than Correa straight up? Throw in 2 or 3 prospects. I think with this move and being only 6 games out of wc they staying put. Maybe trade for some bullpen help

You're overvaluing Thor. He's been as much of a disappointment in production recently as Correa has been with injury.

Thor has an career era under 4 has started 20+ games every year but 1 while Correa has 1 year with more than 425 ab

If you took out this year thor has an era under 3.3

which is why he needs to stay in new york. keep stroman and add some decent hitting. and if the run falls short, a good start for next year. Braves are young and strong again and preparing to dominate the division like they used to. i remember they really sucked just a short few years ago when mets were making the ws. mets have to start building while decent staff is still intact.

been a terrible year for fanbase and mgmt. down 6 with 58 games to go. make a run and get it close to 3 or so and season doesn't look half as bad. give a good sept push and build excitemnt for next year.

so the mets cant make up 6 games in 2 months with a rotation of degrom, noah, marcus, matz, and wheeler

pick up a bullpen arm or 2 which has been the weak part of the team all year. the next 10 games are marlins, chi sox, and pirates 8-2 or 9-1 very possible

first thing they need to do is 86 callaway, this guy is horrible. I don't think he could manage a little league team right now.
and don't get me started with Brodie
they will still try to unload syndergaard, the guy is overrated and injury prone.

as far as this trade, I'm almost positive part of the reason Van Wagenen took him was so either the braves or Phillies wouldn't get him.

but they still need to compete with the braves, nats, cubs, cards and the brew crew. either one of those teams can win their respective divisions or the wild card.

is it possible ? sure but it won't be easy and we are talking about the NY Mets

Well let's not forget all of those central teams play each other so they will essentially knock each other off. Mets just have to play and let the chips fall where they do

Hope you're right but the Nats can with that Top 3 rotation.
The Braves still haven't got a true closer .
Newcomb walks in today after they make a game of it to only walk the first guy , then a bomb .
Im amazed their front office hasn't got a decent closer . Thought they would get Kimbrel

They're going to move Noah to San Diego. They have the most prospects to give up.

Mets have their 1-2 punch of the future with degrom and stroman (hometown). I agree with this. Mets get kirby and flip edwin. Or keep both to have an above average bullpen for playoff push.
