Why no tampering investigation on Leonard?

George was a OKC contracted player. It's fine Leonard spoke to KD but talking with George should have been a tampering charge.

    Coffee im having is good.

Leonard broke NBA rules by asking a contracted player to try and leave his team.

One recurring challenge for the NBA is the enforceability of its anti-tampering rule. The rule is expressed in two versions, one of which is found in Articles 35 of the league constitution and the other in Article 35A. The rule applies to coaches, general managers, governors and players—yes, players—but not agents, since they are licensed by the NBPA and are not employed by either the league or a team. The rule prohibits any attempt to entice, induce or persuade a person who is under contract with another team to join a team that would benefit from the tampering.

The NBA doesn't care about tampering unless its during the season, during the season tampering rules are enforced, but they don't apply to players.

The tampering rules do not apply to players because players talk socially all the time and there is no way to enforce the rules against players, when a GM or front officer individual contacts a player or talks about them then the league will presume tampering is occurring, its impossible to know where normal socializing ends and tampering begin with players which is why there is not one example of the league enforcing tampering rules against players in any significant way.

It's a wierd one to prove, I suppose.

Bit it's widely regarded that he was recruiting before choosing the Clips.

Funny though, he waited to sign with the Clips until the trade occurred, not that it would matter.

Fukk all this NBA drama, and players colluding with players, it should all be off limits. They get paid the big bucks to be slaves and pawns in the broader picture, it's unfortunate that the NBA is starting to rely so much on the player and fan drama, and less on the excitement of the game, to draw interest...at least it feels that way.

    https://www.latimes.com/sports/clipp...706-story.html

The Clippers have had marquee players before, but nearly every one arrived without a say in the matter — by draft, or trade. That both Leonard and George, Southern California natives, chose the Clippers over the Lakers was likened to a watershed moment.
Thanks almost entirely to player involvement in trades and moves, the LA area is getting stacked.

    It's all tampering.

The rule is extremely vague and ambiguous. NBA will only consider looking into it if the aggrieved team asks them to. Thunder aren't going to do that. They are probably ok with the way things turned out.

NBA said it was Okay, after the Lebron to Miami "decision"

    https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...pering-new-nba

As far as the NBA was concerned, even if James, Wade and Bosh readily admitted they discussed playing together as far back at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, that didn't make Miami culpable as an organization for those three choosing the Heat when they all hit free agency in 2010. "What we told the owners was that the three players are totally, as our system has evolved, within their rights to talk to each other," then commissioner David Stern said. He added that players controlling their destinies by working together in such a manner "is not tampering or collusion that is prohibited."

If anything the league should have stepped in and blocked the deal for team stacking. I remember they veto'd Chris Paul from coming to the Lakers back in the day for that very same reason. Didn't want to stack the Lakers team with Shaq, Kobe and Paul back in the day..

    Hypocritical league..

just stick to making 30 contradicting threads so you can pick and choose which 2 or 3 to bump 6 months from now...you already have your 'Clippers wont' make the playoffs' so its probably time for the 'Clippers will win it all' thread

I get why laker fans are pissed, Lakers weren't really chasing kawhi full on until kawhi said he was very interested in Lakers and then kinda verbally agreed he would join while meeting Paul George. Kawhi says he doesn't gaf what ppl or fans think of him, that spurs situation made him ngaf about anyone except him and puppet master dennis

Kawhi is allowed to talk to Paul George as long as he wasn’t acting on the orders of the front office. There's a good article about it referring to Dinwiddie recruiting Irving
