I think for MLB if you can find a 90-100 game winning team overall you should/could make a profit
the only reason why I say "could or should" is the juice on a top team
You would have to worry about the juice in NHL as well
NBA & NFL you couldn't do it with spreads, and ML would be suicide

Betting on 120 American professional teams, plus a few hundred college teams, plus soccer, golf, and tennis. Being limited to only one team would mean earning about $150. For the whole year. They would just move on to something else. How about for the hobbyist who earns a few thousand per year? Would have to be a surprising team that gets priced down all year cause people expect them to regress.
