Anthony Davis Deserves Partial Critique For Lakers Situation

Word is AD had a clause in his contract that pays him an extra $4 Million if he is/was traded.

He's refused to forefeit that money which could free up some funds in helping LA land roster help.

Albeit not a lot it would still help and seems awful selfish considering the type of contract-money he's already getting.

Sounds like he & LeBron are a perfect match for one another.

Hman, you ever take a pay cut or pass up on a raise to help an employer out?

Actually yes, I have years ago

And not a good arguement considering how much he makes and will make his entire career.

4mil is pocket change to him but a lot towards signing some help

all he is missing now is how to blame the coach for everything as an excuse for losing and if totally desperate the fake hate crime act but he has the master of both on his team now to show him the way.

Could you imagine bunch of while SBR degenerate gamblers in Compton???

One one court you have the game and then a small dice game on along the edge

Compton would love the free SBR gear...

I disagree the Lakers are one of the biggest companies in the sports world, the team is worth over 3 billion - let the Buss and the owners spend into the luxury tax, the players shouldn't have to take pay cuts. Davis is significant underpaid per year even with the trade bonus compared to many players- he's still do less money than Lowry and Conley even with the trade bonus. The Buss family has run this team into the ground - let them pay the price for bad management, not the players.

He should be making that 4mil extra and more. Guys like he & James are already taking big cuts because the CBA stipulates max contracts. Good for him. I see it as cowardly when players take a cut to win -why not bet on yourself/ take up the challenge.

If you were making $30 million or more EVERY season, plus millions more each year thru endorsements, and there was an ADDITIONAL $4 million you never really expected, that you could donate towards making your team better in hopes of winning a championship even if for only that one year, you wouldn't do it??

I call that very wise, not cowardly, and would do it in a heartbeat and I'm sure there are plenty of players who would as well.

I could see James blowing a knee or Hammy perhaps. AD first year as a Laker probably stays solid..

Should sign Kembe Walker, Jimmy Buckets, and Kawhi Leonard if possible, then Trade Lebron to free up salary and shock the LA community.. .. Build the team around AD and not aging and old Lebron..

Well you could give it to charity. What is more important, helping the needy or winning acclaim to fill your ego? Winning rings is all fluff. Plenty of great players that never won a championship.

    I kindly disagree

If you make $400 daily and get a one time $40 bonus which equates to $440, that one special day, investing a mere $40 of your $440 in a tool to help make your job and life easier is basically nothing to you.

You're still going to make another $400 the next day and the day after that.

No player, for that matter a bricklayer, burger flipper, whatever, should be expected to give up money to compensate for poor-ass management. If he decides to do so then so be it. And what makes you think the Lakers would spend that extra $4 mil wisely? Recent track record says otherwise.

This is the contract Anthony Davis agreed to when he signed. It is the contract the Lakers agreed to when they traded for him. Now the Lakers do not want to follow through on the agreement, but somehow Anthony Davis is the issue?

If management needs an extra $40 to improve working conditions, that is a job I desperately want to get out of. One offer I would make is to tear up the contract completely and let me work for market value. For Anthony Davis, that would mean above Blake Griffin and Gordon Hayward level. Think the Lakers would want that?

This isn't the NFL. With the nearly unlimited ways to go over the salary cap, this bonus being paid to Anthony Davis is doing nothing to stop the Lakers from getting any player they want. Just pay the luxury tax. Lakers can't do that? They should have run their business better to earn a better profit.

I would actually prefer that the Lakers use the money on filling out their roster instead of using it on 3 guys. This might actually force them to build a team.
