Who will UCLA hire as basketball coach??

    Matt Painter said No Thanks.
Calipari signed a lifetime deal with UK.
Bennett is in the final 4 with VA and appears to be very happy.
    Pitino is too toxic.

looks like they will flub another one and hire Alford 2.0

i would like to see randy Bennett get the chance

Luke Walton recruiting might be iffy

i agree. but right now is the PERFECT time for a top tier or second tier guy to take the job. the conference is ready to be taken. i am NOT a ucla fan. believe me. their fan base is annoying. the keep talking john wooden - meanwhile they have only ONE championship in the last 45 years.

luke walton stock is way way down. yes he led the GS warriors the first half of the season one year but the team was already in cruise control after winning the title in 2015. he got the keys to a ferrari that was already on the fast track and successful.

ucla would likely give the job to earl watson before they give it to luke. earl another terrible hire.

they had that under howland, which is why they went to 3 straight final fours from 06-08. but then howland's act grew tired in westwood because he could not put fanny's in the seats. they dealt with his crap while he took them to final 4's, but the moment the going got tough, they canned him.

    ucla fans are annoying.

i will be shocked if they hire him. shocked. the only way it happens IMO is if he's the last viable candidate left. and i use the word "viable" very loosely here.

they talk about wanting a SPLASH hire. this would be a THUD hire.

    Interesting...

TCU coach Jamie Dixon is a leading candidate to become UCLA’s next basketball coach. But Dixon didn’t say much about the speculation on Monday, simply stating he’s thankful to be coaching the sport he loves. Whether Dixon departs for Westwood will be known in the coming days.

In a bit of irony, though, Dixon formally announced the hiring of Duane Broussard as an assistant coach on Tuesday. Broussard spent the last six seasons as an assistant at -- where else? -- UCLA.

“Duane has a long history in college basketball and has been around a lot of talented players and coaches,” Dixon said in a statement. “He’s a person of high character and is well respected throughout the coaching profession. I’m really excited to have Duane and his family join us at TCU.”

    Garbage job.

Nice weather in LA, but lots of traffic too.

UCLA garbage program and hasn’t been good in my lifetime.

Their fans have high expectations and put coaches on short leash like NBA.

PAC-12 is a kiddie conference that doesn’t win and needs travel partners to stand in lines at LAX and fly like us peasants fly for away games, can’t even fly private.

UCLA is another job with unrealistic expectations, they will likely try for a big name but end up with Walton.

No big name guy wants to go there. Other than howland 3 final fours and harrick '95 title, they've been irrelevant since wooden retired. Larry Brown did take them to the final game one time though

Jamie Dixon could turn them around. It’s not hard to recruit there, and he knows how to coach. With the talent he would get there, I think he would have them battling with UW for top spot in the PAC-12 in no time. Not big on Cronin. His style doesn’t win in the tournament.

Good coach. Great guy. I just wonder why the best job he could get after leaving pittsburgh was TCU.

Not sure. He’s not great in the tourney either. That physical man to man D gets called for a lot of fouls once they tighten up the calls in the tourney. Poor showings with some good Pitt teams. His style isn’t flashy but he knows how to win games during the regular season. Would at least get them back into the tourney with all the talent that ends up at UCLA. They can get 4-5 star recruits with a bum coaching.
