Who is your favorite RETIRED soccer player of ALL TIME?

Gonna give up my top 5 (RETIRED) players

    1. FRANCESCO TOTTI
Il Capitano played with the same team ALL HIS LIFE, AS ROMA in the Italian Serie A. Fun fact, when Zinedine Zidane and Alessandro Del Piero retired, Real Madrid and Juventus both made record-smashing bids for the cerebral midfielder... he declined, "my fate is to retire in Rome".

    2. GABRIEL BATISTUTA
The best and most prolific striker (after Leonel Messi) to ever play for Argentina, "the lion" played most of his career with Fiorentina, but AS Roma signed him for 4-5 seasons and they got rewarded with the elusive scudetto in 2002.

    3. RONALDO DA LIMA
The "real" Ronaldo, penetrate that Portuguese weirdo, the phenom had a style that was prettier to watch and if it wasn't for his frail legs and partying habit, the Brazilian would have done so much more... Player for PSV, Barcelona, Inter and Real Madrid.

    4. ALESSANDRO DEL PIERO
Another Italian soccer legend who never sold out, he played all his life for Juventus

    5. PAOLO MALDINI
Another Italian soccer legend who never sold out, he played all his life for AC Milan

Good list, H. Watch the Totti/Maldini last-game retirement/sendoffs. Akin to someone being canonized.

The Totti video is amazing. Watch the fans. It's really like The Pope is retiring.

Bro I watched it live, cried a shitload, been a Roma fan all my life... we never win championships but thanks to Francesco we won our 3rd one in 2001... who knows when that will happen again...

In all honesty, Roma should have won 2-3 more championships after that one, but we were unlucky to have the one of the best Juve squads and the best Inter in history beat us by 1-3 pts at the end of the season

I was born in 1986 so never saw Pele play, saw Maradona in 1990 and 1994 and after with Napoli and Boca Juniors...

The guy was insane but... his persona off pitch is despicable imo

Ruud was a favorite of mine when he played in Man U along with Beckham, Keane, Scholes, Forlan, the Neville brothers... damn, what a squad

Damn, I loved that guy, best Catalan defender I've seen in my life... Puyol was my actual nickname on the senior year... I was the captain and main center back of my high school soccer squad

PELE. Had it all, no one else has come close- dribbling, balance, speed, overall physical ability, could play any position, could score from anywhere, finishing/under pressure, made his teammates better, longevity-dominated while still a minor, dominated while in his upper 30's.
The epitome of unselfishness... cool and classy.
    Zero chinks in the armor.

Amazing player, but his peak was pretty short. Once he got to top, his disdain for professionalism was pretty clear.
