MLB Asked Nevada Sportsbooks To Not Accept Spring Training Wagers... Why?

MLB wouldn't release the details... as to why.

Just curious if anyone would know why?

    Seems like an odd request.

Maybe worried about inside info on whos going to play?

    Or fixing games?

When your dealing with minor leaguers making nothing you do bring this stuff into play. Something you really don't worry about with the big leaguers making millions.

    No, they aren't listening.

William Hill, Coasts and CG don't give a fuk.

Not sure about WestGate. They put a line up but things are closed now. As far as I know, they did not put that line out on services...it hasn't hit the feed.

I might be missing something though.

If a book wants to take action... they take action. Dumb request by MLB.

What are the limits for Spring Training games in Vegas anyway? A couple hundred....maybe 1k absolute tops? A sliver of a baby yukon potato.

offshore books can do what they want............ vegas books are highly regulated. i think they should be more careful about offering odds on things with alot of inside information or questionable whether the participants care who wins.

However, MLB has also had a request to ban betting on spring training games rejected by the Nevada Gaming Control Board (NGCB). The league asked for the ban to be considered last Wednesday, the day before the first spring training game was set to take place.
MLB argued spring training games are more vulnerable to manipulation, due to their less competitive edge.
The NGCB rejected this request, though, saying sportsbooks have controls in place to prevent customers from betting on suspicious games; it additionally reiterated it had no problems with wagering on spring training.
