    Knicks now positioned to become an Eastern Conf power

    They needed an excuse to unload Porzingis. He’ll be injured his whole career and wasn’t franchise player material anyway. Now they’re set up to sign marquee names this offseason. I’ve felt all along Durant was destined for NY. Now I feel that way more than ever. Everyone trashing the Knicks for this move but this trade demand was a blessing in disguise.

    and salary cap potential from 2 super max contracts.

    Only problem is relying on knicks front office to make the right moves in the draft and that's always a scary thought

    In reality Knicks could have drafted Dennis Smith Jr and passed on him for Frank Nilikita

    I agree. Could see that coming from miles away. However, Porzingis wasnt happy here in NY. Knicks unloaded piles of dough. Hardaway Jr. Will never be the star that his stats say. This free's up cap space for Kyrie and KD. Add in the top draft pick and the Knicks will be a major force.

    It’s going to be a mix of young and older players. They’ll likely land a top player in this draft. Maybe Zion, maybe Barrett. Who knows. But if they bring in even just two big names, they’re going to be contending in the East soon.

    KD a good chance to go to NY imo, but needs another superstar to pair with him. Can't be Durant and a bunch of these bums. KD and John Wall would be a dynamic duo with a third all star type piece.

    Harden was 6th man. Different situation. KD (big man), Kyrie (6 2 guard that can play point or shooting guard, and Williamson is a forward. I know its speculation, but on OKC, everyone wanted the ball. KD and Kyrie have each won championships and would be more willing to share the basketball. KD shares with Steph and Klay. I've also heard KD's best friend is in NYC and Kyrie is from Jersey (same as being home). It's a great fit. There will be more harmony on and off the court.

    If this trade today means that going forward Knicks are relying on Dennis Smith Jr to be their franchise and future PG, I cannot see them going after Kyrie in the offseason

    Knicks are in a world of hurt right now.. Good players don't wanna sign with basement teams.. They are gonna be bad for a very long time. Reminds me of my Lakers after Kobe retired..

    Knicks need to sign good young talent and wait it out.. Is a big market in NY but still it's a crap team right now.
