    RUDYmentary: Value for recreational bettors

    Value has different meanings depending if you are sharp or square. In this, we are just talking squares. A recreational bettor's value comes from the play plus the entertainment value. We will assume a recreational player is 50/50 on -110 lines, otherwise known as a dart thrower or coin flipper

    So with $110 wagered on -110 line, you expect to win (-$5) each time. HOW?

    Game 1 risked $110 and lost (-$110)
    Game 2 risked $110 and won (+100)

    Net result is -$10 divided by 2 games...meaning you expect to lose $5 for each bet placed.

    In the equation VALUE = play value (x) + entertainment value (y)
    Value = -$5 + y.....

    How long are sports games? We will use 3 hours for NFL,NCAAF...2 hours for NCAAB....and 2.5 hours for NBA and NHL.......that is 2.6 hours, or 156minutes

    Where to go from here?.. Well the entertainment value could be anything you want it to be. HOWEVER, we know something similar that you watch for entertainment value. Movies. The average price of a movie in the theatre for the first quarter of 2018 was $9.16. The average movie length is around 110 minutes.

    When setting up a ratio

    $9.16/110minutes = y/156minutes we find that y = $12.99

    From the equation earlier:

    Value = x + y
    Value = -$5 + $12.99
    Value = $7.99

    i am just helping those squares out there see that they are actually getting VALUE

    and also to show their girlfriend/wife as to why they should be betting $110 on a game instead of going to the movies for $9.16

    but what if x is squared and y is squared. Then the antiderivative of x squared is odd and it's a friday?

    I remember the day clearly when I dropped out of college. That was what the teacher was teaching on a tuesday class. Why numbers were odd and even based on crazy calculus and antiderivatives.

    We went to class Thursday and she was like ok pop quiz on what we just learned and I'm like get the fukk out of here, i don't understand this at all, this is insane and I walked up and said thank you to the teacher, gave the sorority girl next to me my number and walked out.

    IN retrospect, still the best decision i made

    Actually when I dropped out it was in October. I still lived in my fraternity house until May when school got out. So i worked 35-40 hours a week every week and still got to party and live in the frat house.

    So I followed up on the number and was able to close.

    I was a fraternity legend, still have some of my original events in place now. Still in same frat house that I helped get. Still have the mirrors over the bed that I installed in my room hahaha.

    Remember my dancing videos from the past. Sorority girls knew who I was. That was the best year of my life
