Bengals defensive coordinator. Been coaching up rock solid defences for years now. Good hire. Been wanting to see how he'd be as a coach for years

Leslie Frazier was an ex bengals D coordinator. We see how that turned out.

Solid hire. Zimmer brings fire and brimstone to a team needing direction. Now they just need a QB.

Not a bad idea to trade him actually. Get some picks. They don't win with him now. How many more years he have left? Id trade him now while he still has value.

As a bengals fan, I know I wouldn't be thrilled to have this guy as a head coach. Absolutely no reason to think he can do it from what I've seen. But, I guess you have to hire somebody.

He's been a part of Bengals 3 straight playoff teams and top 10 D every year, improving every year. What's not to like?

I'd equate him to marvin lewis and singletary. Guys who shouldn't be head coaches.

There are worse coaches out there than Marvin Lewis. Singletary was never a DC, not close to Zimmer's equal.

I agree. Norv is one of the best OC's out there. There's a lot of talent on Minny's roster, lots of upside.

There are not many coaches out there worse than marvin lewis actually, record speaks for itself. Not to mention the win he gave away early this year by not challenging a play that clearly would have been reversed, which would have gave the bengals the bye week in the playoffs. One of many, many terrible coaching mistakes he has made there.

Zimmer's equal.. and what's that?... a guy who took a defensive unit that was literally overflowing with talent. The sad reality is the only reason it worked so well is because when zimmer's wife died it brought the unit together.

The defense was doing well before the wife died, heart string stories are media fluff. Zimmer inherited one of the worst defenses in the NFL, please tell me who were the overflowing talent Cincy had when Zimmer took over as DC in 2008.

The defense was doing well? In what, the 3 or 4 game sample you have before her death... If you know the defensive unit, it was not a fluff story. Not even a matter of debate.

    anyways...

Pat Sims *solid guy, draft pick came in with Zimmer, I'd argue that Zimmer developed him.
Geathers *solid DE, I'll give you that he's a solid role player.
Rucker *bench guy for the most part, had a couple fair years as starter.
Jeanty *backup LB, rotation guy, nothing spectacular, just a solid depth guy.
Peko *I love the guy, but another Zimmer pet project.
Odom *A role player, why even list this guy?
Johnathan Joseph *Finally a pro bowler, but his prime years have been in Houston.
Dexter Jackson *A mediocre CB at the end of his career.
Leon Hall *A solid starting DB, but nothing groundbreaking about the guy.
Chinedum Ndukwe *Why list this guy? He was a below average NFL DB even in his prime.
Corey Lynch *A journeyman nobody, maybe a half step above practice squad talent.
Dhani Jones *Journeyman starter, solid LB but not a game changer.
Keith Rivers *Basically a draft bust at #9 overall, but a journeyman type LB.
Brandon Johnson *A journeyman backup LB, why list this guy?
    Jonathan Fanene *backup DE

You've made my case for me. Not one single guy listed has made a pro bowl as a Bengal.

When Mike Zimmer signed a Vikings extension in the 2016 offseason, the terms were not disclosed. But the sixth-year Minnesota coach revealed Thursday 2019 is the final year of his contract. While another extension could be on the way, Zimmer is, as of now, a lame-duck leader. The 62-year-old coach said he would not resign nor retire until his contract was up. It’s not unheard of for a coach to venture through a contract year, but it is obviously abnormal. The Vikings have qualified for the playoffs twice in Zimmer’s five years but were one of this season’s most disappointing teams, falling short of January football despite a roster full of extended veterans.

You can still win play defense and running the ball, look at Baltimore and Seattle. Minnesota's biggest problem is the front office, offensive line was bad this year.

Being able to run effectively can be the best friend to a average or weak qb. Play action is the great equalizer. Goff is exhibit A.

OL certainly was bad. Add in a huge contract for a bad qb and Zimmer probably wants out after 2019 anyways. He knows how to build a team. Parcells taught him enough to win at this level.
