Some years maybe..... the last few? Not even close. The Pac-12 champ could have been any of about 8 teams. They all beat each other and none of them belong in the top 15. If WSU had won the Apple Cup they would have been fighting to be in the playoff. They barely beat Iowa St yesterday. Who? Yep, Iowa State..... I'd never heard of them either. Pac-12 has had some good teams and will again in the future but they don't belong anywhere near the playoff. And to explain my viewpoint, I'm a lifelong resident and fan of the Pac-12. We just aren't that good right now.

fwiw, I think the 4 teams were the best choice. I think Georgia is better than 3 of the teams in the playoff but having just lost to ALA I get it from a ratings perspective. I would have been okay with leaving ND out.

I think ND would be able to hang with and possibly beat OU and Ohio State. They may be able to hang with Georgia. I say that only because they played them last year to a 1-point game and I think this ND team is better and that Georgia was damn good. But Alabama and Clemson are in a different class than everyone.

The right teams were chosen for the final 4. It's not always the "best 4". It's always been a combo of the "Best 4 + Most Deserving 4". Georgia is the one of the top 4, IMO, but they weren't deserving based on 2 losses and no conference title win.

This stupid notion of Ohio State is laughable. They lost to an unranked Purdue team by 30! And it's not like that loss came early in the season, either. They also should have lost to Penn State. That was a miracle win. And Penn State is not good. So let's put this Ohio State dream to bed. Remember last time we took a shot on them thinking they were a final 4 team they got rolled by Clemson, too, and they would get rolled again.

Notre Dame's reputation took a hit yesterday. It's going to definitely make the committee think twice about them a little more in the future based on their recent BCS/CFP results. Now they have somewhat a chance to redeem themselves next year when they play at Georgia, who will likely be a top-3 team. Win that game and they'll win some rep back.

They got blown out by LSU on the national stage. That was their penalty for not playing yesterday. The loss to Bama was a great performance, but they needed to win that game or else. Like I said, it's always been a combo of Top 4 + Most Deserving 4 and the most deserving part was hurting Georgia. The cure for something like that is expanding the playoff to 6 or 8.

This except I don’t care what they did against LSU. they played a playoff game against Bama in SEC champ game. Great game - obviously better than these other playoff games - but they lost in neutral site in what they knew was a playoff game. ONLY way I could see them being in would be as someone said above - put them vs Clemson
