    I doubt it passes this year, but some of it is a off shore killer, especially the last sentence.

    Permit states to authorize online sports wagering to provide a regulated alternative to the illegal, offshore market;

    Prohibit sports wagers on amateur sporting events except the Olympics and college sports;

    Establish [a process] to request [to] restrict certain sports wagers when necessary to protect contest integrity;

    Prohibit sports wagering by individuals younger than 21; athletes, coaches, officials, and others associated with sports organizations; and individuals convicted of certain federal crimes related to sports wagering;

    Require that sports wagering operators use data provided or licensed by sports organizations to determine the outcome of sports wagers through 2024, and set requirements for data used thereafter;

    Provide a process whereby states may compact with each other to [permit] interstate sports wagering;

    Designate a non-profit National Sports Wagering Clearinghouse to, inter alia, receive and share anonymized sports wagering data and suspicious transaction reports among sports wagering operators, state regulators, sports organizations, and federal and state law enforcement;

    Update the Wire Act to permit certain interstate sports wagers, while also providing additional enforcement authorities such as a state cause of action and a new mechanism for the Department of Justice to target unlicensed, offshore sports wagering websites;

    later

    Its not a matter of if they can shut you down its a matter of when they are going to shut you down. Just look to what happened to Calvin Ayre and Bodog. They could alter a law or enact a law to crack down on money being funneled to offshore or make it so that an offshore gambling site can't cater to US players regardless of where they are located. Maybe theyll make it harder to access the sites themselves with ISP idk. I do know the Feds and land casinos are not going to continue to allow all that untapped money to continue to not to go to them.

    Blake accepted a deal made via telephone from the office of Ayre's lawyer in Vancouver. The 56-year-old plead guilty to a misdemeanor, while being cleared of all felonies, and was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation and a fine of $500,000. More importantly,as part of the enforcement activities relating to the charges, $67 million had been seized from accounts belonging to Bodog's payment processors. This sum consisted largely of U.S. player balances. Ayre agreed Friday to not pursue any claims to recover this money. It's worth noting that Bodog and related firms didn't use this loss as an excuse to not pay customers. Indeed, a document written by prosecutors states that “Ayre personally ensured that any Bodog brand player was made whole.”

    This is the offshore killer bill I was telling you years ago that one day will be passed in the US and everyone laughed. Trump will make sports betting great again.

    $67M seized from processors? It brings up the concept of safer processing. How did they screw it up so bad? What % of deposits and withdrawals are now handled with bitcoin? Is today's money safer?

    I think it's going to pass quicker than what most people anticipate.

    But here's my take on it... if you've wagered offshore your entire life.... and you can find a book offshore that pays.... I think you'd be a fool to wager legally in the USA. Why? I think it leads to THEM (government) knowing more of your income.... and lifestyle.... and also... are you hiding anything extra. More than likely you'll have to set up account with a valid driver's license.... and this will link you to your losses and gambling habits. Your SSN will link you to your winnings...

    I don't think this is such a great idea.

    I've been to countries in Eastern Europe where they ban offshore sportsbooks. They have a government-maintained list that internet providers must block. You can go place your bets at a street shop, or at any of the many sportsbooks that are registered with the government. If you try to go to 5dimes, you get redirected to a page that says the site isn't registered with that government, blah blah.

    It's still easy to get around with VPN, but if the government truly wanted to shut down offshore, they could. A national blocklist that providers had to use would, for the most part, kill offshore for Americans.

    Schumer is probably concerned that if Americans lose taxpayer money on sports betting

    they'll have less tax money to fork over to Israel.

    Thinly veiled tax bill. The Supreme Court has determined that this is a States' rights issue. We don't need the Feds confusing people and usurping local tax money. It's a fukkin joke.
