When did a 16 man committee get to decide.

Guy never had more than 6% of the vote.

which is the stat that MLB discontinued because it could happen in the first inning or any early inning deeming it insignificant. someone drives in the 4th run in a teams 6-3 win and they get credit for a game winning rbi. made no sense.

well Fred McGriff and a few others should feel pretty confident about getting in sometime in the future after this.

I don’t think Baines ever finished in the top 8 on the MVP ballot in any given season.

    Very strange selection.

Never hit 30 homers. Only over 100 RBIs three times and a career .289 hitter??

I did see White Sox owner Reinsdorf on the selection committee so I’m sure that was the only reason he was picked.

LaRussa, who coached him in Chicago was on the committee
Alomar, who played with him in Baltimore was on the committee
Gillick, who was his GM in Baltimore was on the committee

Between the 4 of them, they must have swayed 2 more votes to get him in. Pretty sad, but now the floodgates might open.

I was feeling the same way until i saw hes a career .289 a d only 140 hits shy of 3,000.

    Its just not that ridiculous.

I don't see McGriff, Murphy, Mattingly, Belle, Oliva or Allen getting the nod though.

None of them have the longevity or combination of hits, hrs, rbi and average.

Congrats Baines, you did in fact earn it

    Raines too...

Maris career very inconclusive. 3 good years only.

Today is Jack Morris' 65th birthday.

In 18 MLB seasons, Morris won 254 games, was the 1991 World Series MVP while helping the Twins to the title and also won World Series with the Tigers & Blue Jays.

He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
