Ohio State's Coach in Waiting ??

    Not good for Meyers...

Offensive coordinator Ryan Day to make him a "coach-in-waiting," according to The Athletic's Ari Wasserman.

We obviously are appreciative of Coach Day’s great work, and hope he continues to be one of our offensive coordinators for a long time, but we are more than confident Coach Meyer will be our head coach for quite some time.

    6. So what does that mean for Ohio State?

Giving (Ryan) Day a CIW title won't automatically keep him in Columbus. It's fine if the Buckeyes want to do it, but if it happens, it's really mostly a plan to placate Day. But Day already turned down the Mississippi State job last offseason, so he's above the level of a mid-tier SEC offer.

But what if LSU wants him? Or USC? A nebulous CIW title, without a timetable, won't keep him here.

He's going to stay at Ohio State until the right NFL OC job falls into his lap.

Both Meyer and Gene Smith may be finished after this season. They both know it. The loser of the Ohio State-Penn State game this weekend is finished as far as the playoffs are concerned. The winner is not going to lose two games this season. Remember how bad the Big 10 really is. I hope that Ohio State wins because I think James Franklin is your basic horses arse, but I have no betting interest in this game and will not, unless the line really gets crazy.

Ohio State need not dip its toe into the coach-in-waiting pool. The program is successful enough it can hire almost any coach it wants.

Normal Folks wish Meyer well with his Health issues

Nonetheless... This illness would be convenient for the OSU board of Trustees in putting the Meyer era behind them

As previously stated, Meyer may be finished after this season. The excuse is now planted. So Meyer leaves after this season, takes a year to get healthy, and then looks for a new job at a powerhouse school that is not producing. Can anyone say U.S.C.

I would expect a post like this from a guy who has 10,000 posts and is NOT a Pro. The deal was made right after Meyer got into big trouble. He took a meaningless suspension with the understanding that he would get his team as far as he could this season and then retire. Why do you think that he comes out with this health report now?
