Why Khabib is such a dominant force?

Many of you say that's because of his grappling (true...it's really not the grappling, but the Russian military style Sambo), but anyway

Some people say that he is slow...very little boxing - maybe

But do you really know what it's like for a fighter of Khabib's caliber to grow up in Russia and do what he did?
You probably don't...but you can find out:

I was a fan of Khabib from his first fight in the UFC. I am an even bigger fan now.

I think the fact his dad tough him how to grapple when he was a kid has put him ahead of most fighters - that and his physical strength. He also grew up in a country that doesn't have the distractions you get in the West.

His father played a humongous role in his development

I disagree about the distractions though- his part of the country is infested with fundamentalists...every other male is threating to kill you ...that part of the town is extremely hostile and extremely dangerous....primarily because of the muslim fundamentalist.

Interesting video. Not to lump all Russian fighters together, but if you're in the cage/ring against a Russian, you're not going to get a quick tap or a fighter trying to get out of the fight when in a tough spot.

I'm a big Khabib fan. But Fedor is more exciting, and seems more like a guy I'd like to have a drink or ice cream cone with. Maybe in LA (I've been following his tournament with my son; went to Chicago and NYC, and going to LA in Jan).

Russian fighters (or soldiers for the matter) don't train to just train and win titles- we train to kill and protect our homeland in anyway possible

Fedor is an amazing human being and he will forever be an ambassador to the sport for sure
