There are reports Butler is buying a house outside of Philadelphia, I don't see how Houston has the cap room unless they trade Paul, and no one wants Paul's contract.

The Houston Rockets have held trade discussions sometimnes centered on veteran point guard Chris Paul, as well as center Clint Capela, heading into Thursday’s NBA draft, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

That includes “discussing Paul deals with teams that have the necessary cap space to absorb his three years and $125 million after the free-agency moratorium in July,” Charania reported.

General manager Daryl Morey has said he does not intend to trade Paul, but several opposing GMs have told Amico Hoops they can say for certain the Rockets are at least kicking the tires on potential Paul trades.

The Rockets have been bounced by the Golden State Warriors in Western Conference playoffs two straight years — and perhaps view the Warriors’ key injuries as an opportunity to make the necessary improvements and play for a championship.

According to several reports, the Rockets have made everyone but star guard James Harden available. Meanwhile, Morey has maintained that the core of the team will not be dealt.

The Dallas Mavericks are one team said to be interested in Paul. The Charlotte Hornets could be, too, should point guard Kemba Walker depart in free agency.

Capela could also be a challenge to move, as he has four years remaining on a massive contract.
